Our Deputy Executive Director, Janet Anyango, led the FIDA-Kenya family at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, focusing on reviewing the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. While here, she shared FIDA-Kenya's experience, including the advocacy on 2/3 gender rule, dialogues with university students, Movement buildings with WROs and Women Leadership Caucuses, FIDA-Kenya Women Leadership Academy, media advocacy, multi-stakeholder engagements on women's political participation, psychosocial support to women leaders including after they lose leadership opportunities, and legal representation for election Dispute Resolution among others.

KELIN Center for Reproductive Rights On 19th February 2025, the Court of Appeal will be hearing 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐍𝐨. 𝟓𝟗𝟒 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐯 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐀-𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚) & 𝟏𝟓 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 challenging the High Court ruling that upheld the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝟐𝟔(𝟒) which guarantees access to safe and legal abortion. The Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR) provided the lead advocate and technical support to FIDA-Kenya and her partners.

FIDA-Kenya salutes the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union for adopting the AU Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. The #AUEVAWGConvention is a legally binding instrument that will address the root causes of #VAWG in Africa. The #AUEVAWGConvention is indeed a victory for women and girls.
