To champion lasting positive community transformation.

About us

Act! is a Kenyan NGO whose mission is to enable citizens and communities in Kenya and neighboring countries to live a life of dignity by strengthening individuals and organizations to be effective agents of positive change. Act! was registered in 2001. Since then it has been involved in carrying out its mandate largely through capacity building programmes and grant making. Some of the achievements include strengthening the capacity of more than 200 civil society organizations in Kenya, Southern Sudan and other countries in Africa. Act! focuses on people’s aspirations for a better quality of life. We work with them to achieve this by facilitating a shared development approach.

  • Act!, the National Counter Terrorism Centre, and GCERF (Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund) convened a two-day workshop on the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) model bill for counties. The pre-validation event brought together key stakeholders, including civil society, the Council of Governors, the County Assemblies Forum, and the Senate, to refine the bill. Once adopted, it will provide a legal framework to strengthen county-led efforts in preventing radicalization and enhancing community resilience, aligning with the National Strategy for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism 2025-2030 (NSPCVE 2025-2030). #tendasasa

  • Today, the Senate of the Parliament of Kenya, with the support of the Kenya Devolution Programme (KDP) - Timiza Ugatuzi funded by the British High Commission, officially launched the Impeachment Digest and Impeachment Manual—two essential knowledge products designed to enhance transparency and due process in the impeachment of County Governors and Deputy Governors. The launch was officiated by the Speaker of the Senate, Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi, EGH. The newly launched Impeachment Manual serves as a practical, easy-to-use reference for Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), Senators, and members of the public seeking to understand the impeachment process. Meanwhile, the Impeachment Digest consolidates years of jurisprudence and legislative experience, offering an in-depth analysis of past impeachment proceedings, key Senate rulings, and court decisions. The launch of these two knowledge products marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s devolution journey, strengthening the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance. As impeachment remains a critical oversight tool under Article 181 of the Constitution, these resources empower both lawmakers and citizens to engage meaningfully in governance processes. As devolution continues to evolve, ensuring that legal frameworks are well understood and effectively applied is essential to sustaining democratic Governance at the County level. #DevolutionWorks #PublicAccountability #GoodGovernance
