The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented IT Engineer / Systems Administrator with a strong DevOps focus to join our growing team in Tokyo. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting all company functions, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our business-critical IT services. You will work closely with our colleagues from our Honolulu, Tokyo, and Seoul offices. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and automation processes that enable the future of gaming and manga products.
A successful candidate will have a passion for both technology and gaming/manga, alongside deep expertise in DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and automation tools. Your role will focus on enhancing our infrastructure with an emphasis on CI/CD, and seamless cloud operations.
CI/CD Pipelines: Build and manage automated pipelines for CI/CD to improve development workflows and delivery speed
DevOps Practices: Establish and manage DevOps best practices for infrastructure-as-code, version control, and automation. Optimise deployment processes to ensure speed and reliability
Networking & Security: Ensure the reliability and security of cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Manage DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and other networking services. Implement and monitor security practices to safeguard systems and data
Collaboration Tools & Productivity Applications: Maintain and optimize cloud-based productivity tools/systems and identity & access management services
Observability & Troubleshooting: Implement monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and ensure optimal performance of critical business systems
Documentation & Best Practices: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to cloud infrastructure, DevOps workflows, and operational procedures
Vendor & Service Management: Engage with cloud vendors and service providers, ensuring cost-effective solutions and service rates
Team Collaboration: Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to support project delivery and improve systems and processes
Requirements:
Fluent in English: Excellent communication skills in spoken and written Japanese or English
5+ years of experience in systems administration or DevOps roles, ideally in fast-paced and cloud-focused environments
Expertise in Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud services and managing cloud infrastructure
CI/CD and Version Control Expertise: Proficient in using git for version control and collaborative development, alongside CI/CD tools to automate testing, deployment, and infrastructure provisioning
Cloudflare & CDN: Experience with Cloudflare for DNS management, CDN, DDoS protection, and security configurations
Networking Skills: Strong understanding of networking principles (DNS, VPN, load balancing, firewalls) and associated security measures
Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, or PowerShell, etc.) to automate tasks and workflows
Cybersecurity Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices and tools to protect cloud infrastructure and sensitive data
Problem Solving & Initiative: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and improving processes
Strong Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively while working in a collaborative team environment

Based on experience and skills. The salary includes a fixed overtime allowance of 45 hours. Transportation expenses are provided for office commuting days
