概要
「with Planet」は、朝日新聞社とビル&メリンダ・ゲイツ財団のメディアパートナーシップに基づき、財団から一部助成を受け、運営されています。「with Planet」は、朝日新聞のニュースサイトの一部であり、編集権は独立しています。
朝日新聞社とゲイツ財団は、感染症や貧困、ジェンダー、教育、地球温暖化、難民など、主に途上国が直面するグローバルな社会課題の解決に向けた取り組みを支援するという目的を共有します。こうした課題に対する認識と理解を深めるため、朝日新聞社は「with Planet」を立ち上げました。
「with Planet」では、朝日新聞記者のほか、豊富な取材経験を持つジャーナリストが国内外を取材し、報道します。また、政策決定者や研究者・専門家、国際機関、NGO・NPO、企業など様々な立場の人とともに解決策を模索し、発信します。すべてのコンテンツは誰もが自由にアクセスできます。
同様のメディアパートナーシップは、2010年にイギリスのThe Guardianと結んで以降、The Telegraph（イギリス）、NPR（アメリカ）、Le Monde（フランス）、El Pais（スペイン）、Nation（ケニア）など、ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、アフリカなどの20を超えるメディアと締結されています。日本のメディアとのパートナーシップは初めてになります。
ゲイツ財団は独立した非営利組織です。ビル・ゲイツ、メリンダ・フレンチ・ゲイツ両氏個人やマイクロソフト社などとの利害関係はありません。
“with Planet” is operated under a media partnership between The Asahi Shimbun and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with partial funding from the Foundation. with Planet is part of the Asahi Shimbun news website and has independent editorial rights.
The Asahi Shimbun and the Gates Foundation share the goal of supporting efforts to solve global social challenges faced primarily by developing countries, including infectious diseases, poverty, gender, education, global warming, and refugees. To deepen awareness and understanding of these issues, the Asahi Shimbun has launched “with Planet.
With Planet will feature coverage of domestic and international issues by journalists with extensive reporting experience, in addition to Asahi Shimbun reporters. We will also work with policy makers, researchers, experts, international organizations, NGOs, NPOs, corporations, and others in various positions to seek and disseminate solutions. All content is freely accessible to all.
The Gates Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization. It has no interest in or relationship with Bill or Melinda French Gates, or Microsoft Corporation.
