We are proud to announce the start-up of a new plant at our Porto Marghera (Venice) site that manufactures crystal #polystyrene (r-GPPS) and expandable polystyrene (r-EPS), utilizing secondary raw materials (MPS) from recycled expanded #polystyrene (#EPS). The Porto Marghera #polymers, which are part of the Versalis Revive® product range, contain between 35% and 100% post-consumer recycled plastics and are primarily intended for the #packaging and construction industries, extending to protective packaging for household appliances and thermal #insulation panels for buildings. This new plant marks a significant achievement in our transformation journey, aligning with our commitment to a more #circular and #sustainable economy thus strengthening our capabilities and competitiveness. https://lnkd.in/dMTb-JCx #chemistrybypeopleforpeople

REFENCE® is the innovative range of mechanically #recycled #polymers designed for applications in direct contact with food. This new product family enriches the Versalis Revive® portfolio, expanding the opportunities for mechanical recycling and is intended for polystyrene food packaging, such as yogurt cups, meat and fish trays, and other rigid and expanded packaging solutions. In celebration of #GlobalRecyclingDay, let's explore two complementary technologies of #recycling plastics: mechanical and chemical recycling. #MechanicalRecycling involves collecting, sorting, cleaning, and reprocessing plastic waste into new products. This led us to develop the Versalis Revive® range, incorporating recycled plastics into new materials, showcasing the potential of mechanical recycling. #ChemicalRecycling breaks down plastic waste into its fundamental components through chemical processes, enabling the production of new #polymers suitable for the various same applications from traditional processes. Our Hoop® project exemplifies this approach, aiming to transform mixed post-consumer plastics into raw material for new polymers, complementing mechanical recycling efforts. We are committed to developing complementary innovative solutions for achieving full #circularity in plastic production, each addressing different types of plastic waste.
