👉 Factory Innovation Week Recap - Nagoya, Japan - Opportunity for low pressure, high density hydrogen storage. At the end of last October, our own Alfons Geueke spent the week in Nagoya, Japan with our partners #MitsubishiCorporationTechnos to exhibit at Factory Innovation Week Expo and meet with potential customers to better understand the opportunities and challenges surrounding the hydrogen market there. Every market has its own unique dynamics, in terms of hydrogen storage, based on local safety rules and standards. We found Japan was no different. - In the US, it is the "Bulk Storage" designation based on the amount of "Free Hydrogen Gas" (10 kgs) - In Europe, it is overall hydrogen at the site (2k or 5k kg limits) - In Japan, it is the High-Pressure designation (>1Mpa = 10bar = 145 psi) During the week there was a lot of conversation on this topic. Metal Hydrides are a high-density, low-pressure hydrogen storage media. Though 10bar is not the optimal storage pressure for our solution, it still provides a significantly smaller footprint than compressed gas, allowing significantly more hydrogen to be stored on-site.
