As we navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world, the role of immunisation extends beyond mere prevention, becoming a critical pillar for global health security and economic stability. These benefits can only be realised through population-wide access to vaccines, and the EU #HTA Regulation can play a pivotal role in evaluating the broad value of vaccines. Our webinar on vaccines and the EU HTA Regulation today underlined the urgency to develop vaccine-specific processes and methodologies in the context of the EU HTA Regulation before 2030. Thank you very much to the speakers and participants for the insightful discussion, moderated by Anna Viceré. Chiara de Waure shared the state of play of the EU HTA Regulation and vaccines consideration. Maarten Postma discussed the vaccine innovation pipeline, stressing the need for new HTA approaches and collaborations. Eliana Biundo, Paolo D'Agostino and Jessica Castelao Garcia shared the three guiding principles we put forward to ensure the EU joint HTA framework is appropriate for vaccines: ✅ It should incorporate vaccine-specific terminology and measurements. ✅ It should facilitate timely, transparent and inclusive vaccine assessment processes. ✅ It should improve the collection and interoperability of real-world data for vaccines. The time to act is now to ensure the EU HTA framework is appropriate for vaccines.
