Frustrating and a bit embarrassing. 😳 You try to download a file a client sent…and find your access has expired. Expired downloads is a pain point we’re working hard to solve for WeTransfer customers. But the solution isn’t to simply host each expired file indefinitely—storing the extra 30,000 TB of data per day comes with a considerable cost. So our team faces a complex challenge: How do we optimize the feature to keep files long enough to be recovered by customers who need them, without storing every file for so long that the additional costs become unsustainable? We don’t have all the answers yet, but we’re getting closer every day. The feature is now live—that was the first step. Now, our attention turns to optimization. 🚀
