Composites Research Laboratory (COMRESLAB)

در باره ما

Composites Research Laboratory (COMRESLAB) at the University of Tehran, Faculty of New Sciences & Technologies (FNST), was initiated in the spring of 2011 to provide an environment for educational, research & development activities in the field of composite materials and structures. COMRESLAB conducts fundamental and applied research in various areas including characterization and processing of advanced composite/nano-composite materials and design, analysis, fabrication and testing of composite structures. The multidisciplinary research team of COMRESLAB consists of graduate students involved in the MSc and PhD programs and research associates sharing common interest in composites science and technology. Research funding in the form of contracts and grants is provided by different sectors of industry and governmental agencies utilizing composites in different engineering applications. The understanding of composite structures demands for an in-depth knowledge of constituent material behavior encompassing of nano-reinforcing agents, fibers and resins and their interactions at the material level while addressing their structural behavior required fundamental analysis at higher levels.

Prof. Rafiee delivered a plenary talk in the International Conference and Exhibition of Reinforced Plastics (ICERP). The conference was held from 21st to 23rd of Jan. 2025 in India. The topic of the lecture was “The Role of Applied R&D in The Industrial Production of Competitive Composite Pipes ”. ICERP2025 event is organized by FRP Institute once in every two years. The first event on the ICERP series was held in 2002 at IIT Madras, Chennai. https://lnkd.in/gnJGE-_6

This is the trend of various research streams in COMRESLAB, we plan and then proceed. There is no defined endpoint for the topics in COMRESLAB, some of them are considered mature enough due to a wide range of analyses focusing on major and main subjects. When it is believed that a field has reached maturity, a new area is launched. For instance, we believe that in the field of FRP pipes, we have thoroughly analyzed those pipes from various perspectives, covering different aspects. Currently, we are identifying unexplored areas and directing our focus towards them. The streams are primarily defined according to industrial demands and are updated accordingly.
