Job Description

At Zuora, engineering excellence, scalability, and productivity are strategic priorities that drive our business success. We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our Performance Engineering and Engineering Productivity teams. In this role, you will foster a culture of scalable and efficient software development practices, enabling our engineers to deliver high-quality, performant, and reliable products. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping our products’ scalability and efficiency, optimizing development workflows, and ensuring continuous improvements in our engineering processes and systems.

What You Will Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse engineering team composed of Performance Engineers and Engineering Productivity specialists.
• Drive strategic planning and execution for performance and scalability initiatives, ensuring Zuora products meet rigorous performance and reliability standards.
• Define and champion best practices for software performance testing, scalability assessment, and efficiency improvements across multiple Zuora products.
• Oversee the design and implementation of tools, frameworks, and processes that significantly enhance engineering productivity and software quality—from code commit through continuous deployment.
• Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, developers, QA, and operations teams to ensure alignment on engineering productivity and performance objectives.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in development workflows, proposing practical solutions to improve team velocity, code quality, and system scalability.
• Foster a culture of continuous feedback, automation, proactive monitoring, and data-driven decision-making to achieve exceptional engineering outcomes.
  
  

Who You Are

• An engineering leader with a strong background in software development, performance engineering, scalability testing, or engineering productivity.
• Proven track record of leading highly technical teams, fostering professional growth, and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, performance, and quality.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, software architecture, performance testing methodologies, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Skilled communicator and collaborator who effectively aligns cross-functional teams towards common goals and drives consensus on technical and strategic initiatives.
• Passionate about creating an environment that prioritizes innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
  
  

Preferred Experience To Have

• Working on large scale distributed systems.
• Development in Java or other object oriented programming languages
• Work with open-source tools such as SQL/NoSQL databases, message brokers, load balancers, web frameworks, web servers, application servers
• Work with AWS technologies
• Experience with Telemetry technologies
