30 years since the #BeijingDeclaration and we’re still not connecting the dots between gender and climate. In India rural women continue to face the harshest impacts of climate change resulting in food insecurity, unsafe migration, unpaid care burdens, and climate-induced health issues. Yet the #BeijingIndiaReport2024 overlooks the climate-gender nexus, missing a critical opportunity to drive meaningful change. TRI’s Neeraja Kudrimoti highlights why integrating gender into climate policy isn’t just a moral or feminist imperative but it’s a matter of resilience, sustainability, and survival. At TRI we believe designing truly regenerative solutions begins with listening to those most impacted and co-creating with them every step of the way. #BeijingIndiaReport #WomenInLeadership #TransformRuralIndia #TRI #SamajSarkarBazaar #VoiceToPeople #MultidimensionalDevelopment #ClimatePolicy #RuralIndia #TheHindu

How do you prepare rural women to lead thousands more? Across India, Women Elected Representatives often lack access to meaningful training and leadership opportunities thus limiting their ability to fully participate in local governance. Under the Shashakt Panchayat Netri Abhiyan, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Transform Rural India trained 40 women from 10 states to become State Level Master Trainers. Held at IIPA, #Delhi, this national-level training used songs, games, and simulations to create engaging, participatory learning experiences. These trainers will now return to their states to build the capacities of women leaders at the grassroots and strengthen panchayats from the ground up. At TRI we are rural development designers working to turn languishing localities into thriving communities by bringing equal opportunities to rural India. In rural India good health is still a luxury many can’t afford. Long distances, lack of clinics, and too few trained professionals make every illness a crisis especially for women, children, and the elderly. At TRI we believe the solution lies within the community. Through Neighborhoods of Care we support villages to take charge of their own wellbeing by building awareness around preventive healthcare, training local first responders, creating health-linked livelihoods, and strengthening the care ecosystem, one village at a time. This #WorldHealthDay we celebrate the communities leading the way, showing that with care, courage, and collective action, rural India can shape its own path to wellbeing.
