  • Uncertainty and emotional intensity are part of working in the social sector—but open conversations can change how we navigate them. At our latest edition of jigyaasa on ‘Mental Health and the Social Sector’, Maragathavalli Inbamuthiah and Isha Nag discussed why creating a culture where teams can talk openly about doubts, vulnerabilities, and mental well-being isn’t just important—it’s essential for stronger teams and greater impact. • As a child, Lalita Devi Didi had a simple dream—to eat a full, colourful plate of food. Because there were days when she didn’t know what a complete meal felt like. Some days, there was just rice and salt. Dal and vegetables were rare. When work was uncertain, so was food. And like millions of women in vulnerable households, she made sure others ate first. For most vulnerable households like hers, food insecurity isn’t just about hunger—it’s about the absence of choice. With an annual income of barely ₹25,000, nearly 80% of it went to food. There was no room for change. Women often bear the brunt of scarcity, yet they are the ones leading change. When given the chance to earn, they don’t just bring home money—they bring home better nutritious meals. They move from surviving on less than two meals a day to choosing what to eat. Through economic inclusion and access to stable livelihoods, Lalita Didi no longer just dreams of good food—she eats it. A colourful plate is more than nutrition. It’s dignity. It’s progress. From financial inclusion to food security, every choice a woman makes today shapes a stronger, more equal tomorrow. Change begins when access turns into agency. Let’s keep #acceleratingaction—because real change doesn’t happen in a moment. It’s the small, everyday choices that build confidence, open doors, and create lasting progress.
