On World Health Day, as we reflect on the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”, we honour the women who turned gardens into movements—and challenges into change. In the underdeveloped districts of Bihar and Jharkhand, women continue to face daily challenges in accessing requisite nutrition and healthcare. Limited resources, poverty, and lack of awareness lead to nutritional deficiency — a silent crisis that demands sustainable, community-driven solutions. Plan India launched the Poshan Vatika – Harit se Poshan project across 103 villages in six districts of Bihar and Jharkhand to tackle this issue. The initiative promoted nutritional gardens and empowered communities to take charge of their health and nutrition. 5,000 women across 103 villages came together to grow more than just gardens—they grew self-reliance, health, and hope for their communities. We’re proud to share that this grassroots initiative has now been published as a case study in the internationally reputed Indian Journal of Community Health—a rare honour for development work of this scale. The project stands as a model for improving women’s health and nutritional security through sustainable, localized solutions.  This achievement is a tribute to every woman who sowed the seeds of change, and to our partners who stood by us every step of the way. Let’s continue growing stronger, together. Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are among the leading causes of death in India. Digital health access, patient tracking, and community-level intervention can play an important role in effective prevention and management. Plan India’s Young Health Programme (YHP), in collaboration with NHM, NPCDCS, and BBMP, organized a Healthcare Orientation Program in Bengaluru yesterday, equipping 90 frontline healthcare professionals with advanced skills and tools to enhance NCD care. Experts like Dr Smita Rawat (Regional Health Office, Govt. of India), Dr Venketesh (BBMP-Govt. of Karnataka), and Dr Adarsh (NCD-Cell, Govt. of India) shared insights on strengthening early intervention, integrating NCD management into primary healthcare, and improving grassroots implementation. Dr. Myl Kumaran (WHO-NCD) introduced global best practices, while Dr. Pallavi Mishra (Swasthya Sankalp, IPE Global Karnataka) conducted a session on optimizing digital health tools like the National NCD Portal for better patient tracking and care. This milestone was made possible by AstraZeneca India’s unwavering support to the Young Health Programme aimed at strengthening India’s healthcare workforce and driving real, lasting change. #YoungHealthProgram #NPCDCS #BBMP #NCDPrevention #PlanIndia #AstraZeneca #HealthForAll #PublicHealthImpact

  • 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗩𝗶𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗸𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮’𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 In Delhi, 91 young innovators - 60% of them girls—recently showcased real-world solutions at Vigyaan ka Karkhana, a science exhibition under Plan India’s STEM education initiative for children from our sponsored communities. For many children, especially girls, access to STEM learning is limited. Science is often taught through rote learning, making it difficult to apply concepts to real-life challenges. But over the past year, Plan India introduced STEM education, hands-on learning methods and mentorship via school teachers that sparked problem-solving and leadership—especially among girls. The exhibition was a powerful outcome of this intervention —students developed working models addressing issues like road safety, environmental conservation, and community well-being. Girls took the lead in building these projects, proving that given the chance, they could be future innovators. Your support can help us expand STEM learning for children in underserved communities. When you invest in education, you fuel the next generation of scientists, engineers, and change-makers.
