🔷 In the year 2022, Impact Investors Council (IIC) in collaboration with Northern Arc Capital published the “State of Impact NBFCs 2021” report, with support from TransUnion CIBIL Limited as the Knowledge Partner. The report highlights the role of impact-focused Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) in driving financial inclusion across underserved segments in India. It draws insights from a diverse portfolio of NBFCs engaged in microfinance, affordable housing, MSME financing, and vehicle finance, shedding light on their reach, resilience, and adaptability, especially during and after the pandemic. 🔷 While the sector continues to evolve, many insights from the report remain deeply relevant — from the urgent need for patient capital and ecosystem collaboration, to the resilience these NBFCs demonstrated during crises like COVID-19. The role of Impact NBFCs in building a more inclusive financial ecosystem is as critical as ever, and the report serves as a timely reminder of the strategic importance of supporting these institutions for equitable economic growth. 🔷 Explore more such insights and publications at - https://lnkd.in/dePz--yH #MSME #NBFCs #Housing #MicroFinance #Capital #Inclusive #Investment

How can philanthropy drive climate investments? Recently, we participated in a panel discussion at the Climate Conference hosted by Mosambi in New Delhi, where we delved into the transformative role of strategic philanthropy in accelerating climate finance across India—a mission that demands urgency, innovation, and collaboration. Swipe for key highlights! Moderated by Kamsin Shahani, Senior Manager of Philanthropy & Impact Advisory, Waterfield Advisors, the panel convened esteemed voices including GIRISH AIVALLI, Impact Investors Council (IIC), brendon mendonca, India Climate Collaborative, and Vikas Mehta, Sustainability, Equity and Diversity Fund (SED). The discussion illuminated a critical paradox: while families readily fund traditional charitable causes, many hesitate to back climate tech startups due to perceived risks and a lack of familiarity with emerging solutions. This underscores the need for innovative evaluation frameworks tailored to climate investments, as well as collaborative ecosystems that unite philanthropists, investors, and policymakers. Crucially, the panel reinforced that proactive engagement, not just intention, is the cornerstone of progress in climate tech—the only way to catalyze scalable solutions is through decisive action. At Waterfield Advisors, we’re driving this shift by incorporating impact capital into investment portfolios and pioneering ‘Sustainable Development Capital’ models. By bridging the gap between philanthropic ambition and investment-ready climate innovations, we create tangible proof points that de-risk opportunities, attract larger capital flows, and ensure measurable impact—all while upholding rigorous risk management frameworks.
