Public health experts increasingly criticize the partnership due to Coca-Cola’s role in promoting #sugary beverages linked to type 2 #diabetes, affecting over 462 million globally. This criticism mirrors past successful campaigns against tobacco sponsorship in the Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) now faces calls to sever ties with Coca-Cola, similar to its stance against #tobacco and #alcohol sponsors. Experts argue that the IOC’s association with Coca-Cola contradicts its mission to promote health, particularly as sugary drinks contribute to various #health issues.
