From QA Intern to Junior QA Engineer – My Internship Journey in GKM IT 🎉🚀
Looking back at the last 6 months, I can confidently say this internship shaped me – not just into a QA professional, but someone who understands the true value of software quality.
When I started as a QA intern, I was curious, eager, and ready to learn. Today, as I take the next step as a Junior Quality Assurance Engineer, I carry with me not just knowledge, but experience, confidence, and clarity.
📝 What I’ve Learned (Technically):
STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle) – Understanding every phase and its importance
Bug Life Cycle – From detection to closure, and how each step matters
Agile / Sprint Practices – Working in sync with the team and adapting fast
Test Planning & Strategy – Defining scope, goals, and effective plans
Test Case Creation & Execution – Writing and executing meaningful test cases
Manual Testing – UI, Functional, Integration, Regression, Smoke, Sanity testing
API Testing – Using Postman and Automating with Rest Assured + Java
Bug Reporting & Tracking – Using Jira effectively
📑 And the biggest learning: The goal of a tester is not just to find bugs, but to ensure that the product meets expectations, aligns with requirements, and delivers a great user experience.
What Makes a Good Tester (And What I Gained):
🤔 Critical Thinking – To analyze what could go wrong
📝Attention to Detail – Because quality lives in the little things
🗣️ Strong Communication – To explain bugs clearly and work with devs
🤝 Collaboration – Testing is teamwork, not a solo act
🧐 Curiosity – Asking why, what if, and how always
📃 Documentation Skills – Well-written bugs, test plans, and reports
➕ Adaptability – In fast-changing environments
🕜 Time Management – Prioritizing tasks and meeting timelines
💪 Never-Give-Up Attitude – QA is tough, but so am I
✅ Understanding Requirements – So I can test what truly matters
😊 Empathy for Users – Because the end goal is a smooth user experience
It wasn’t always easy. There were challenges, mistakes, and moments of self-doubt. But every day, I chose to learn, not just work.
Gratitude:
A special thank you to my mentors Rashmi Godawat and Subam Bharati – your guidance, support, patience and constant encouragement made this journey smoother and so much more meaningful.
As I continue this journey, one thing remains constant –
“I focus on learning, and I keep learning.” 🏆💯
