TAKING ASSAM’S ARTISANS TO MORE MARKETS (Operation Dronagiri launch district#4) On March 25th, Op Dronagiri arrived in 2 Assam districts (Kamrup metropolitan & rural) Big focus is on helping talented artisans reach more customers across India. We are doing this by: 1) Geo-tagging the artisans 2) Showing geo-tagged artisans on navigation maps. 400 geo-tagged artisans (e.g. Aasmitas Couture) will shortly go live on Google Maps & other navigation maps. So that they can be discovered by more people. 3) Enabling ecommerce via Addble app. 70 artisans (e.g. Anjana Weaving) will become ecommerce-enabled on Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC) Eventually, we aim to do this for all 2500 artisans these districts. These artisans span a wide range- handicrafts, textiles, cane & bamboo, jewellery, art metalware, pickles. Presently, their market is limited to local fairs or other exhibitions that TRIFED takes them to. They find it difficult & expensive to sell via Amazon or Flipkart It was great to have 10 of them attend the launch event, and hear their challenges directly.
