Congratulations to the 2nd cohort of the STAND Changemakers Academy! 🎉 Last year, I had the privilege of supporting STAND with a comprehensive evaluation of their first Changemakers Academy iteration. It was an inspiring experience to work alongside a dedicated team and students eager to make a real impact—open to feedback, deep reflection, and always looking for ways to create more meaningful change. Especially at this moment, with enough happening to make us feel overwhelmed, apathetic, helpless or cynical, initiatives like these give me hope. They remind us that change isn’t about superheroes saving the day - but about collective efforts that all of us can and should be a part of. STAND creates a unique space for young people to experience the strength and potential that lies in building community whilst equipping them with diverse skills to make change. Here’s to many more cohorts of changemakers! 💡✨

Our (Gulnaz Anjum, PhD) latest article, "Rethinking Knowledge Systems in Psychology: Addressing Epistemic Hegemony and Systemic Obstacles in Climate Change Studies", is now out in Frontiers in Psychology. In this perspective piece, we critically examine how Western epistemologies continue to dominate climate psychology—shaping theories, methodologies, and policy relevance—often to the exclusion of Indigenous and Global South knowledge systems. We argue for a decolonial reorientation of the field by embracing epistemic pluralism, methodological diversity, and equitable collaboration. This work is especially timely as climate crises demand globally inclusive psychological frameworks that reflect diverse human-nature relationships and cultural responses to ecological change. I volunteered and worked at this organization for 7 years, building temporary housing and bringing educational and health programs to hundreds of families living in extreme poverty. We ended the month of Match with a workshop on #IAmRemarkable facilitated by Miguel Angel Leyva Salas,a Social and Cultural Psychologist, was an empowering session focused on the importance of self-promotion. Throughout the workshop, we explored why celebrating our achievements matters for personal growth, professional visibility, and collective empowerment. Key Elements of the Workshop: ✅ Introduction to #IAmRemarkable: A global movement encouraging people to speak about their accomplishments openly and confidently. ✅ Reflection and Research: We learned that only 1 in 2 employees feel recognized at work,and that accomplishments don’t speak for themselves. ✅ Interactive Exercises: We reflected on our personal achievements and crafted our own #IAmRemarkable statements, practicing how to speak about them authentically. ✅ Open Discussion: Sharing our experiences helped break down the discomfort around self promotion and reminded us that we are not alone in this journey. ✅ Follow Up Practices: From keeping a weekly achievement log to creating “Remarkable Wednesdays,” we received actionable tools to continue uplifting ourselves and others. Thank you so much, Miguel Angel Leyva Salas, for facilitating such a powerful session. Your presence and guidance created a space where we could reflect, feel, speak, and grow.
