🟣 Great to see such a productive exchange with our international colleagues from the Netherlands, exploring best practices in youth justice and diversion. Events like these showcase the strength and impact of our Youth Diversion Programmes, demonstrating collaborative, empathetic approaches to supporting young people. 👏Thanks to all who contributed to this insightful morning! #WeAreForóige
Thrilled to have hosted a fantastic morning in Dublin, welcoming Jaap van der Spek and all of the team from Halt (stichting) and The Ministry of Justice from the Netherlands for a deep dive into youth justice and youth diversion. It was incredible to have so many people come to Dublin City from Holland for the visit. We were joined by policymakers, department officials, social services - Sociaal Werk Nederland, youth workers and key figures in youth work and youth diversion from the Netherlands. The morning featured brilliant contributions from Niamh Skelly from the Youth Diversion Project Research and Development Team/ Practice Development and Crosscare who illustated the structural soundness we have from Department of Justice and University of Limerick when it comes to shaping great YDPs and great youth justice workers. JLO Paul Moran from An Garda Síochána offered crucial insights into Youth Diversion Programmes, the secret of working with young people in an empathetic manner and the need for strong relationships with Foróige Dublin City South Youth Diversion Project. A special thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the discussions and sorry we had to cut the Q & A short! Thanks to Gareth Carey and the team for expert coordination of this event. And let's not forget the magnificent venue at Wood quay Dublin City Council . It's not every day you get to capture a group photo in front of a 1250-year-old wall.
