In 3D printing, we often talk about "democratizing production." Well, VOXELTEK has just democratized the production of aligners. Thanks to us, everything can now happen in a single dental office, using just one device. A week ago, we introduced Smilemaker – our innovative platform for the automated production of clear aligners, combining photopolymer 3D printing with thermoforming and laser trimming. Next Tuesday, our system will be on display at the IDS Cologne trade show in Germany. Of course, we will also showcase our new FlashPrint 3D printer as well as our entire product portfolio. But for now, I’d like to explain exactly how Smilemaker works and why it is so innovative. Clear aligners are transparent orthodontic trays used to correct bite issues and align teeth discreetly and comfortably, offering an alternative to traditional braces. Their production combines digital technology with traditional methods, ensuring precision and customization. The process begins with a digital scan or impression of the patient’s teeth, which is used to create a 3D model. The orthodontist designs a treatment plan, dividing it into stages, each requiring a separate set of aligners. The 3D models are printed using high-precision photopolymer printers, cleaned, and cured. These models serve as molds for thermoforming thin plastic sheets into aligners, which are then trimmed, polished, and quality-checked. The finished aligners are delivered to the patient with instructions for use, typically requiring 20-22 hours of wear per day for 1-2 weeks per stage. This process, involving collaboration between orthodontists and laboratories, ensures customized aligners are produced efficiently, often within days or weeks. Big things coming up… Great reveal – next week! In 20 days, on March 25, the world’s largest dental trade fair, The International Dental Show (IDS), will begin in Cologne, Germany. VOXELTEK has been a participant since 2017, and this year’s edition will mark our 5th appearance as an exhibitor. We have a long history of product launches at IDS. In 2017, during our first exhibition, we presented our very first desktop dental printer, the "VOXEL M." Two years ago, in 2023, we introduced our clinic system, which included the Mark IV printer and the VOXEL.IOS scanner.
