It was a privilege to moderate the panel organized by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the revolution in Medicine and Biotechnology. My warm thanks to Ms.Sophia Efraimoglou - Kounenaki and Ms Eleni Foti for the kind invitation, and to the exceptional panelists: Professor of Biology Aris Iliopoulos, Kalliopi Gkouskou Themis Alissafi Stamatiki Kritas and Ioanna Zergioti Professor of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). We explored how technologies such as gene therapy, genomics, nanomedicine, robotics, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence, and bioprinting are no longer projections of the future, they are redefining healthcare, demanding not only regulatory readiness, but also long-term strategic investment. They are already integrated into European research agendas, clinical strategies, and innovation policies. Europe is not only adopting these technologies it is shaping their global trajectory, with a strong emphasis on ethics, safety, and equitable access. This momentum is already here. The opportunity now lies in how Greece will contribute, collaborate, and innovate within this evolving ecosystem. That means: Supporting translational research and infrastructure, Creating national and European investment tools tailored for biotech and medtech, Building strategic partnerships between academia, startups, and healthcare institutions, And anchoring all efforts on safety, equity, and societal benefit.
