⚡ Did you know that composite core conductors were invented by W. Brandt Goldsworthy in the 90’s ? M. Goldsworthy passed away on April 3, 2003, and today, we wish to pay our tribute to this visionary engineer who paved the way for a new generation of sustainable and efficient conductors. Nicknamed “the father of composites” and one of the inventors of the pultrusion process, M. Goldsworthy could see as early as the 90’s the potential of improving overhead lines thanks to the pultrusion process. He was the first to come up with the idea to replace the traditional steel core in High Voltage cables with a composite core, and in 1998, his team laid out the foundation for the first generation of composite cables. Epsilon’s founder Stephane Lull and our VP Laurent GUITTON had the opportunity to work with M. Goldsworthy in California in the 90’s. HVCRC® LITE - Episode 1: how can a composite core conductor NOT be an HTLS conductor? Over the past two years, Epsilon Cable has developed and patented a new composite core conductor—one that is not a High-Temperature Low-Sag (#HTLS), but a new class in itself. Estoy orgulloso de formar parte de la primera instalación en Chile con conductor HVCRC® 280-40 (Casablanca / Laredo) de Epsilon Cable que a la fecha ya se encuentra casi finalizado el primer circuito del proyecto de aumento de capacidad de la línea de transmisión Esperanza – Río Aconcagua de 110 Kv, propiedad de Alfa Transmisora de Energía (Celeo Chile) y cuya obra se localiza junto al cerro del Parque Nacional la Campana el cual escaló Charles Darwin el 17 de agosto de 1834, donde el célebre naturalista descubrió nuevas especies de fauna en esa gran fuente de biodiversidad de la región de Valparaíso! Durante la etapa de supervisión de campo, los principales desafíos que enfrentamos fue el fuerte viento predominante en la zona, por lo que los trabajos de lanzamiento de conductor se realizaron generalmente a temprana hora de la mañana. Gracias al excelente equipo de trabajo del EPC Monlux, S.A. y a su contratista de instalación Facu Ingeniería, quien cuenta con amplia experiencia en la instalación de conductores HTLS, hasta el momento han realizado un magnífico trabajo en apego a las recomendaciones y a las pautas de instalación descritas en los manuales, por lo que la ejecución del tendido se ha realizado de forma ágil, gracias también a los accesorios DERVAUX Sicame Group, que son de fácil, segura y rápida configuración mediante método de compresión tradicional, lo cual reduce considerablemente los tiempos de ejecución, por esta razón y por todos los beneficios de la tecnología HVCRC® - HTLS es muy necesaria para el mercado Chileno y para el rápido desarrollo de las energías renovables. 🇨🇱⚡️🚀 #HVCRC #HTLS #EpsilonCable #AdvanceConductors #AdvancedReconductoring #GridModernization #EnergyGrid #PowerGrid #EnergyTransition Visite nuestro sitio web en Español: www.epsilon-cable.com/es
