Le Secrétaire Exécutif de l’OSS en visite de courtoisie au Ministère de l’Environnement et du Développement Durable de Mauritanie (MEDD), Le 11 avril 2025. M. Nabil Ben Khatra, Secrétaire Exécutif de l’Observatoire du Sahara et du Sahel, a été reçu dans les locaux du MEDD de Mauritanie par M. Moulaye Brahim Moulaye Driss, Secrétaire Général du Ministère. Étaient également présents M. Mohamedou Sy, Directeur du Département Eau et M. Adel Rekik, Auditeur Interne de l’OSS, ainsi que M. El Wavi et M. Ould Lafdal, représentants du MEDD. Cette rencontre a permis des échanges riches et constructifs autour des projets en cours et des perspectives de coopération. Une attention particulière a été portée au projet intitulé « Améliorer la résilience des communautés des écosystèmes agropastoraux et oasiens de Ziyara et Dhaya aux effets néfastes du changement climatique dans la région de l’Adrar », en cours de préparation pour soumission au Fonds d’Adaptation. Dans le cadre de son appui technique au MEDD, l’OSS a également partagé des données issues du projet GMES&Africa relatives au suivi de la neutralité en matière de dégradation des terres. Ces données incluent la cartographie de l’occupation du sol, l’évolution des biomasses et la séquestration de carbone. Les deux parties ont exprimé leur volonté commune de consolider leur collaboration en faveur de la valorisation durable des terres et d’une gestion efficiente des ressources naturelles en Mauritanie. ********************* The Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory pays a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Mauritania, April 11, 2025. Received at the Ministry's premises, Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory, met with Mr. Moulaye Brahim Moulaye Driss, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, with the presence of Mr. Mohamedou Sy, Water Department Director and Mr. Adel Rekik, Internal Auditor of the OSS as well as Mr. El Wavi and Mr. Ould Lafdal, from the MESD of Mauritania. During this meeting, constructive discussions made it possible to review partnership and ongoing projects. Among these, the "Improving the resilience of communities in the agropastoral and oasis ecosystems of Ziyara and Dhaya to the adverse effects of climate change in the Adrar region" project, to be submitted to the Adaptation Fund, was particularly highlighted. In addition, as part of the OSS support to the Ministry, Land Degradation Neutrality monitoring data, particularly those produced as part of the GMES&Africa project and covering land use mapping and its evolution, biomass production, and carbon sequestration, were shared with the Ministry officials. Particular emphasis was placed on the shared desire to strengthen collaboration between Mauritanian institutions and authorities and the OSS for better land use and optimal management of natural resources.
