This comparative study with Gariguette strawberries, planted in week 47, is delivering promising insights on how dynamic lighting can support growers in reaching their production goals, both agronomic and economic, throughout the entire season.

By combining WUR’s expertise in plant physiology, VORTUS BV's technical crop evaluation, Vivent Biosignals' technology and Grodan's precision irrigation solutions, we are gaining invaluable insights into the future of high-performance cultivation systems. Lights, camera, action… and cucumbers! This week, our RED Horticulture office in Nantes was transformed into a full-fledged film set as our talented videographer, Olivier Roux, captured the power of dynamic LED lighting in cucumber cultivation. In the past, growers relied on HPS lighting, but with the transition to LED, a completely new cultivation strategy is required. At PARC (Photobiology and Agronomic Research Center), RED conducts in-depth research on how different light spectra influence (cucumber) plant development. By understanding these effects, we help growers optimize their lighting strategy: applying the right light at the right time to maximize yield and efficiency. With our insights, growers can achieve higher production (more kilos per square meter) while fine-tuning their approach to modern greenhouse cultivation. Stay tuned for the full video... coming soon!
