It is my pleasure and honor to share this latest publication from our international research consortium “On Behalf of TROGSS” on two subjects that are meaningful to me and for which I feel so passionate about: #obesity and #colorectal #cancer. This manuscript entitled “Outcomes of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in Populations with Obesity and Their Risk of Developing Colorectal Cancer: Where Do We Stand? An Umbrella Review on Behalf of TROGSS—The Robotic Global Surgical Society” represents the collective work from a talented team of co-researchers who have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of excellence in patient care. https://lnkd.in/gNPNz5EZ The main points to draw from this umbrella review (level 1 evidence through a systematic review of systematic reviews) are: 1. “This study reviewed existing research to assess whether #metabolic and #bariatricsurgery (MBS) reduces #colorectal #cancer (CRC) risk. The findings indicate that patients undergoing MBS experience a significant reduction in CRC risk, with particularly strong benefits observed in women.” 2. “There is also evidence suggesting a potential reduction in risks for both colon and rectal cancers. These results highlight the importance of MBS not only for weight management but also as a potential strategy for cancer prevention.
