🏛️ The ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums sets minimum professional standards and encourages the recognition of values shared by the international museum community. 📘 In revising the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums, the Standing Committee of Ethics (ETHCOM) is committed to an open, transparent and iterative process of consultations. ✍️ Each consultation and last September’s review have shaped the second draft of the revised Code, which is the subject of this 4th and final consultation. 💻 All ICOM National and International Committees, Regional Alliances and Affiliated Organisations, along with their membership, have until 30 April to provide their feedback on the 4th Consultation. 📚 In this carousel, we present the proposed principle on Collections.

Code of Ethics: FOR ICOM MEMBERS The 4th Consultation of the Revision of the ICOM Code of Ethics is ongoing. Do not miss this opportunity to review and comment on the second draft of the revised Code. Our feedback, as well as other ICs, is important. Therefore, we invite our members to contribute to ICOM DOCUMENTATION's (CIDOC’s) response. DOMINO Iberoamerican Report 📝 The DOMINO Working Group recently published the report Documentación en los museos de Iberoamérica: Encuesta 2021-2022 (Documentation in Ibero-American Museums: 2021-2022). This study, focused on the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking museum community, provides an initial assessment of documentary practice on their holdings and the appreciation of documentation in the region's museums. Also, it also identifies strengths as well as areas for improvement. This initiative seeks to share the assessment with the museum community in the Global North, fostering international dialogue and collaboration. DOMINOs report was originally written in Spanish and translated into Portuguese. Also, two summaries were added, in English and French. Both the Portuguese extended version and the summary in French were translated using DeepL. The machine translations were then reviewed and corrected by the DOMINO team, and the French version was reviewed by staff from the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN). However, DeepL could not extract text from images, requiring a separate process to extract and translate the text before recreating the images. This full process was made hand in hand with Mika Nyman, from the Co-reference Working Group.
