🔥 Hot news from Europe’s Spaceport! The first model of a future P160C solid rocket booster for Ariane 6 🚀 is getting close to its all-important first hot-fire test at the Spaceport in French Guiana. At over a metre longer than Ariane 6’s current P120C boosters, P160C’s larger capacity means it can carry more propellant, which will significantly enhance performance. Ariane 6 is already planning the future. 🌟 As well as equipping Ariane 6, P160C is used on the Vega-C small launcher. All our #RocketMakers are eagerly awaiting this first static fire test. This year, once again, we opened our doors to curious young minds for #GirlsDay events across Germany, sparking their passion for the #SpaceIndustry. ✨ At our Lampoldshausen site and together with Airbus in Bremen and Ottobrunn our #RocketMakers 🚀 introduced schoolgirls to the possibilities of technical and scientific careers that are still too male-dominated today. When young people think of space, they picture rockets and satellites; impressive, but distant. At Girls’ Day, they get hands-on experience, discovering the precision engineering behind spaceflight and the mastery of the powerful physical forces of space. 🪐 The chance to get a close-up view like this is important for young girtls to realise that a career in #STEM is accessible for them. To be successful militarily on the ground, you first have to defend space. 🌍🛡️ From 17 to 28 March, the Commandement de l'Espace rehearsed various emergency scenarios as part of the #AsterX exercise. With our #Helix space surveillance service, we provided a real-time overview of activities across all orbits – day and night. 🔹 “I was immediately immersed in this highly realistic crisis scenario. The collaboration between industry and the military was key to anticipating and countering threats effectively,” reflects Paul, Space Surveillance Engineer at Helix and participant in the exercise. In a complex, multi-domain conflict simulation, 18 in-orbit events were staged across geostationary and low-Earth orbits, evolving dynamically based on military decisions. 🔹 Theo, Optical System Engineer within the Helix team, shares his takeaway: “The exercise gave me deeper insight into our customer’s operational needs and ArianeGroup’s added value – both in daily operations and in crisis situations.” For the fifth consecutive year, our #RocketMakers have contributed to space security and European cooperation in this exercise, conducted at the French Space Agency, Centre National d'Études Spatiales, site in Toulouse, France. 🚀 On March 28 and 29 2025, Germany celebrated its official #SpaceDays – #TagDerRaumfahrt! Across the country, around 100 institutions from research, industry, and academia opened their doors – and we were fully part of it at three locations, offering exciting insights into our work: 📍 Bremen: we opened our visitor centre to space enthusiasts, showcasing the development of the #Ariane6 upper stages and the restartable Astris Kick Stage powered by the new BERTA engine. A special highlight was a talk on “Reaching the self-landing rocket through #3Dprinting and #sustainability”. 📍 Berlin: at the BDLI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. (German Aerospace Industries Association) event in the Zeiss-Großplanetarium, Manuel Oesterschlink presented Ariane 6 and we engaged with many enthusaiastic young people interested in a future in space. 📍 Munich: at the Wittelsbacher Platz, right in the city centre, we displayed an Ariane 6 mock-up, screened space-related films, and heard from our head of Ottobrunn site Gerald Hagemann, reserve astronaut Nicola Winter and State Minister Florian Herrmann We heartily thank all our visitors, partners, and colleagues – for their curiosity, questions and enthusiasm for Europe’s access to space! #TagDerRaumfahrt #RocketMakers #BuildingTheFuture #WorkInSpace #SpaceIndustry
