In Myanmar, urgent support is essential 🇲🇲 While the authorities have decided to end the search for survivors, the death toll in Myanmar has risen to over 3,500, with a further 5,000 injured. With rescue operations coming to an end, it is now time to start clearing away the debris. Indeed, the earthquake struck a large part of the country, causing extensive damage in six regions and states. Millions displaced in Chad due to conflict in Sudan Two years after the start of the conflict in #Sudan, almost a million people have fled to #Chad, including more than 700,000 Sudanese refugees and 220,000 Chadian returnees. 90% are women and children. 👉 The resources allocated to the comprehensive care of these people are cruelly lacking. Given the scale of the crisis, the #education and #protection sectors have been neglected, even though in some provinces of eastern Chad, more than 8 out of 10 children were not attending school in 2024. 👉 At the Adré and Dougui sites, Acted is trying to support the most vulnerable population by distributing dignity kits to women and girls, and organising mass awareness-raising sessions on protection issues.

🚨Five days after the earthquake that struck #Myanmar, the number of deaths is still rising, reaching almost 3,000 as of today. Buildings, roads, communications networks have been destroyed. 👉 Present in the region since 2008, Acted was one of the first organisations to arrive in the epicentre area. Thanks to already established logistics and local networks, rapid needs assessments and the distribution of financial aid to households were launched. But the needs are immense. SEISME AU MYANMAR - Intervention d'urgence d'Acted 🆘 Depuis le séisme qui a frappé le Myanmar le 28 mars 2025, causant plus de 2 000 morts, près de 4 000 blessés et déplaçant des milliers de personnes, la situation ne cesse de se dégrader. La destruction des infrastructures entrave l'intervention des secours, et les conditions de vie se détériorent rapidement, exacerbées par la chaleur extrême.   Présente dans la région depuis 2008, Acted a été l'une des premières organisations à arriver dans la zone de l'épicentre, quelques heures seulement après le tremblement de terre. Acted lance un appel urgent de 20 millions de dollars pour : 👉 Répondre aux besoins de base de 600 000 personnes 👉 Fournir une assistance financière directe aux ménages vulnérables 👉 Créer plus de 30 000 emplois locaux temporaires 👉 Soutenir 50 projets de réhabilitation et de reconstruction menés par les communautés. This week, Acted teams from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were in Batken, jointly visiting past project sites first used nearly 10 years ago but carefully maintained by communities to this day. After almost 4 years of closed borders, last week's reopening allowed our teams to reunite and reassess outcomes of the past, and reimagine how we move forward together in the Fergana Valley under our #STREAM programme with the support of #ECHO, the EU, Start Network and the PATRIP Foundation. As Ilhom Gulomjanov, Acted's Regional Technical Coordinator on Natural Resource Management, remarked: "a beautiful season starts here".
