  • Happy World Quantum Day! Today, we’re raising our coffee cups to the incredible progress being made in the quantum realm and to all the committed researchers, engineers, and pioneers building the quantum future ☕ Qurious to know what keeps us at SemiQon busy today (and every other day)? 🧐 To put it simply: Clearing the hurdle of scalability. At SemiQon, we don’t aim for one-of-a-kind. Our goal is not to build one single piece of exceptional hardware. Instead, we want to develop productized and cost-effective silicon quantum integrated circuit chips that can power the scale-up of quantum computing globally.  🦾

It has been a very busy couple of months at SemiQon and the springs looks packed with activities. There has been multiple new development that I'll share in the coming weeks. I start with one that has been long overdue. We just kicked-off a Eureka Network GlobalStars project with our partners National Taiwan University, Hon Young Semiconductor Corporation (subsidiary of Foxconn) from Taiwan and SCALINQ from Sweden. We have always believed that convergence of semiconductor and quantum can be the winning recipe for scaling of quantum processors and can usher the era of Quantum Integrated circuits or Quantum IC chips. This project is a step in that direction where we intend to combine the semiconductor expertise of partners in Taiwan with SemiQon's and Scalinq's expertise in quantum devices and electronics. • 🎓🏭 From Glasgow to Espoo: a journey into the heart of scalable quantum chip development, powered by international collaboration. Kristopher B., a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Strathclyde, visited SemiQon in March as part of his M4QN international exchange award, focusing on the effective scaling of Si-quantum and cryo-CMOS technologies. "It was clear how SemiQon are utilizing their leading cryogenic-CMOS multiplexing technology alongside spin qubit designs. This combination challenges the open problem of scalability head on", Kristopher Barr writes. During his visit he toured Micronova cleanroom facilities, shadowed the fabrication engineers, and gained hands-on understanding of the complex process of SemiQon's back- and front-end wafer processes: "This was possibly the most foundational experience. It has given deep insight into the critical aspects that allow competitive design of spin qubit devices." It was an absolutely pleasure to have Kristopher with us, and beyond technical insights, his visit was a powerful example of how commercializing academic research can benefit wider communities. 👉 Read Kristopher's insights in MNQ4's article: https://lnkd.in/eHpy3vzR

  • The American Physical Society March Meeting 2025 was buzzing, and so was the interest around SemiQon's latest product launches, cryogenic CMOS and silicon spin-qubits. Both sparked lively discussions and highlighted their growing importance in advancing quantum technology.   Our very own Janne Lehtinen and Nikolai Yurttagül were right in the middle of it, representing SemiQon at our booth and leading insightful sessions that drew attention from both academia and industry.   Here's our key takeaways from the event: ↘️ Cryogenic CMOS is gaining momentum, with several expert talks underlining its scientific potential ↘️ Silicon spin-qubits are on the rise, and are increasingly seen as the most scalable path forward in quantum computing ↘️ The exhibition floor was alive with innovation. Startups and research groups alike showcased bold ideas, creating a space for collaboration, curiosity and inspiration.   #APS2025 #CryoCMOS #SiliconSpinQubits European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) Business Finland Photo by: Henrikki Makynen, Venimis

The future of quantum is shaped every single day in labs around the world. Our partnership with University of Jyväskylä is an example of how collaboration pushes forward research on silicon quantum computing.    “Sometimes we are prone to naïvely thinking that research is first done at universities and then it’s taken to companies to commercialize. But a lot can happen in that interface – as is happening here: both benefit when commercialization is taking place even when basic research still continues, says Professor Juha Muhonen.   As researchers ourselves, we know that progress often hinges on limited resources and access. At SemiQon, it is part of our mission to help pioneering researchers do their best work with the best devices out there.   Soon, our devices will become available to the broader research community - stay tuned to hear more.   Read the full reference story: https://lnkd.in/eHfY_6-B European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) & Business Finland 💫 #QuantumComputing #QuantumTechnology #quantum #semiconductors #innovation #SemiQon #MillionQubitEra

  • 🚀 SemiQon moves from Startup to Scaleup with EUR 17.5 M from the EIC SemiQon has secured a total of EUR 17.5M of funding in the form of EUR 2.5M of competitive, non-dilutive grant and additional EUR 15M of equity-based ear-marked funding. The European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) granted funding to SemiQon’s Cool-CHIPS project following a rigorous 3-stage evaluation process done in an unprecedented speed within the EIC Accelerator program. This new funding propels SemiQon’s growth through its cryogenic CMOS product-line. “The strong customer demand for the cryo-CMOS will allow us to diversify our business to domains with faster commercial traction than quantum computing. This funding helps us to take our cryo-CMOS product from current TRL6 (Technical readiness level) to TRL8 within the next two years as we initiate product testing with our customers at their product environment,” SemiQon CEO Himadri Majumdar explains. While SemiQon starts generating revenue through its cryogenic CMOS products in other markets, the company remains steadfast in its mission to build scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective quantum processors that will power the future of quantum computing.
