Yesterday, we had the privilege of presenting Chempolis to a full house of around 70 participants at "Lignin in Focus: Key Results, Industry Cases, and Future Opportunities". The on-site event held at Espoo showcased the advancements in lignin-related projects, featured company case presentations, and explored new avenues for collaboration. Flexible biorefining technologies that started our story 💚 Right from the beginning, Chempolis' operations have been driven by environmental friendliness and the efficient use of global resources. We have always fostered these matters with our formico® biorefining technologies.   When Chempolis was established, we firstly focused on common reed and reed canary grass as our feedstocks. Chempolis reed pulp was successfully produced and utilized already in our first year of operation. For example, viscose fibre from our reed pulp was produced and spun in 1995.   During the decades, we have tested and discovered that our technologies are suitable for tens of different lignocellulosic feedstocks. These include bagasse, corn stover and empty fruit bunch, among others. Our current projects in India and Finland have led to our focus now being on feedstocks such as bamboo and sawmill and forest industry residues. However, our doors are open for additional interesting cases, thanks to the flexibility of our technologies. ⚙️   Our intensive research and development have given rise to an extensive Finnish and international patent family with over a hundred granted patents over the years. The formico® technologies have also been recognized for their economic feasibility and energy efficiency by the International Finance Corporation and the Department of Energy of U.S. government. A year ago, the #AntwerpDeclaration set out a vision for restoring Europe’s industrial strength. Over 1300 signatories later, 400 business leaders, industry and worker representatives gathered in Antwerp to discuss the just-published #CleanIndustrialDeal with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. 🌿 From Fields to Furniture: A Sustainable Success Story with AMP Yhtiöt 🌿   Last week, we went public with the first tangible results of our collaboration with AMP Yhtiöt Oy. Kiekko-Espoo's fan merchandise store was globally the first commercial location, where an innovative material was used: straw-based lignin as glue in plywood. The plywood was used in key furniture solutions of the store, such as the checkout counter.   Delivering innovative solutions to markets requires extensive cooperation throughout the whole value chain. This project was no exception. Before the furniture reached the store, we had sourced Finnish wheat straw, extracted high-value lignin from it in our pilot plant and delivered the lignin to Latvia.   In Latvia, our partner Latvijas Finieris AS was responsible for first making the glue and then producing the plywood. This is a great example of our strong network and wide international collaboration, with both Latvijas Finieris and Chempolis being members of the EU-funded VIOBOND consortium. The aim of VIOBOND is to take significant commercialization steps with lignin.   The collaboration with AMP Yhtiöt exemplifies our capabilities in supporting companies across various industries to take concrete steps towards a purer future. With our extensive network and OPEN concept, we possess the expertise and infrastructure to assist partners in their sustainability efforts.   "The collaboration with Chempolis has been excellent, and the project progressed as planned. We are very satisfied that the final product's quality and functionality fully match traditional alternatives while offering a more environmentally friendly solution.
