Participants will engage in creative activities such as research, artwork creation, and public events. The residency culminates in a Results Presentation, which may include exhibitions, performances, workshops, or presentations. This year’s program focuses on the concept of “CAMP,” offering a space for artists to confront their expression and navigate through the challenges posed by the venue change. Due to renovation, the Results Presentation will be held at the Aomori Citizens’ Art Gallery, a new location for the exhibition. Artists, curators, and researchers from all backgrounds and genres are welcome to apply. Participants must be able to stay during the residence period and present their work publicly.

NEWS: Christophe Cherix Appointed Next Director of The Museum of Modern Art in September 2025 The Museum of Modern Art announced today that after an intensive six-month international search, its Board affirmed a unanimous decision to appoint Christophe Cherix in September 2025 as the next David Rockefeller Director, to succeed Glenn D. Lowry. Cherix joined the Museum’s curatorial staff in 2007 and has served as The Robert Lehman Foundation Chief Curator of Drawings and Prints since 2013. His appointment to that role followed a reorganization at MoMA that merged the Department of Prints and Illustrated Books, of which he had been Chief Curator since 2010, with the Department of Drawings. Prior to MoMA, Cherix served as curator of the Cabinet des Estampes at the Musée d’art et d’histoire in Geneva, Switzerland. Whether in virtual spaces or social networks, our self-images are constantly evolving, influenced by platform logic, algorithms, and societal expectations. The exhibition ATTENTION IS ALL I NEED explores how digital self-representation transforms into an artistic practice. A diverse group of media artists examines the tension between individual autonomy and algorithmic control: What freedoms does the digital self offer? What constraints arise from the mechanics of visibility? Through a fusion of deepfakes, 3D avatars, and social media performances, the exhibition investigates how technology shapes identity—oscillating between playful reinvention and capitalist determinism. Moving beyond a purely narcissistic perspective, the exhibition shifts focus to global contexts. Self-representation is always both social and political: it crosses cultural boundaries and redefines gender, origin, and belonging. NEWS: Dr Devika Singh announced as a curator of the 28th edition of Paris Photo Dr Devika Singh, Senior Lecturer in Curating at The Courtauld, has been announced as one of four curators of the 28th edition of Paris Photo. Paris Photo, the world’s largest art fair dedicated to photography and image-based art, will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris from 13 – 16 November 2025. Dr Devika Singh is an art historian, art critic and curator who specialises in modern and contemporary art, with a particular emphasis on art in South Asia and the transnational history of 20th-century art.
