Our team has been attending several conferences and speaker panels over the past weeks. With the growing global demand for energy, the importance of scalable software solutions is increasing daily. Our CTO Henri Manninen spoke at an energy conference at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, about how Gridraven improves wind forecast accuracy using machine learning. Meanwhile, our CEO Georg Rute spent the past month in the U.S., attending several industry events—including DTECH in Dallas. Our CCO Tuuli Jevstignejev joined the Tehnopol Coffee Morning panel, sharing insights on the future of space technology and how Gridraven has been part of the European Space Agency's Business Incubation Centre, ESA BIC Estonia program since last year. Our solution increases the capacity of overhead lines by up to 30% annually—sometimes as much as 50% during windy periods—without requiring new infrastructure. This can significantly alleviate bottlenecks, reduce costs, and expedite grid expansion efforts.
About us
Gridraven boosts grid capacity by up to 30% with software only, helping unleash load growth and increasing the revenues of grid operators. The lack of grid capacity is a key blocker to building more data centers, solar, wind and electrifying industry. It takes a decade to build a new power line. But there is significant untapped potential in your existing. Power lines are very sensitive to the weather, with only a 2 m/s wind adding 30% more capacity thanks to the cooling effect. Gridraven's Dynamic Line Ratings use precision weather forecasting to unlock the full capacity of every overhead line. See claw.gridraven.com

America’s energy infrastructure just got a D+. Last week, the American Society of Civil Engineers released its latest report card — and the grid is falling behind. Transmission congestion. Transformer shortages. Extreme weather. Surging demand. The list goes on. But here's the thing: we can fix it — and we don't need to wait a decade. In my latest article, I break down: ⏰ Why current grid investments, while necessary, aren’t working fast enough ❗️ The danger of planning tomorrow’s grid with yesterday’s assumptions ✅ How AI-driven tools like DLR can deliver a capacity boost now The U.S. needs to stop reacting to grid stress and start building resilience. That starts with smarter planning, better forecasting, and leveraging the grid we already have. Read the full article below.

Our CEO Georg Rute attended DISTRIBUTECH last week and met with Latitude Media's Scott Clavenna to chat about our role in boosting the capacity of the existing power grid. The article “An AI Dispatch from Distributech” spotted us among the companies shaping the new phase of grid intelligence. 💡 Our software-only solution is globally scalable today.
There will be no all-powerful AI that will take over the world, but instead the world will be taken over by lots of little bespoke AI's. They'll do this much faster, they're indeed already here. Like Gridraven's AI for precision weather forecasting that helps grid operators boost capacity by up to 30% on day-ahead energy markets. Glad to see Gridraven listed at the top of the list of impactful observations from Distributech by Scott Clavenna from Latitude Media.

Electricity prices are soaring, and energy security is becoming more complicated and fragile. From CERAWeek to DISTRIBUTECH, the message has been clear: we need solutions now. In my latest article, I break down why grid intelligence is the fastest way to combat grid congestion and rising electricity costs. 💵 Did you know grid congestion alone costs the U.S. $20 billion annually? 📈 And that electricity prices in the U.S. have risen nearly 5% per year since 2020—outpacing inflation? 💡 Machine learning-driven Dynamic Line Ratings (DLR) can significantly reduce congestion by unlocking more capacity in our existing infrastructure. We already have the technology to make a real difference. It’s time to scale grid intelligence solutions like Gridraven’s DLR and unleash the full potential of our existing grids. Last night, we received the Breakthrough of the Year 2024 award from ITL Estonia. Honored at a ceremony attended by the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, and accepted by our Chief Data Scientist, Markus Lippus, this award recognizes our team's ongoing commitment to improving power grids with machine learning. A big thank you to ITL Estonia and everyone who supports our work.
Yesterday evening ITL had wonderful ceremony where we announced the recipients of the annual awards. 👏 Deed of the Year 2024: Institute of the Estonian Language for collecting and maintaining the Estonian language corpus 👏 Deed of the Year 2024: FS Team Tallinn for the world's best FEST24 student formula teamwork 👏 Breakthrough of the Year 2024: energy company Gridraven 👏 Idea of the Year 2024: Creation of a 100 million euro Defense Fund, recipient Majandus- ja Kommunikatsiooniministeerium / Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications 👏 In addition, a special recognition was presented to Jüri Jõema for his long-term influence on the ICT sector. The award ceremony was also attended by the President of the Republic of Estonia, Mr Alar Karis. ITL Estonia has recognized with the sector award for over 25 years those people whose ideas, initiatives or activities have significantly influenced our industry in Estonia or Estonian life in general. Traditionally, the recipients of the award were announced on the association's anniversary, this time ITL celebrated its 25th anniversary. Instead of a competition, proposals are submitted by members or cooperation partners of the association who are IT entrepreneurs. The selection is made by the ITL board. Congratulations to everyone, you are worthy of recognition! #ITL25 Photos: Joanna Jõhvikas Doris Põld Ats Albre Ivo Lasn Anna-Greta Tsahkna Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology

Our CEO, Georg Rute, wrote an op-ed for POWER magazine, a go-to publication dedicated to the global energy industry insights. With rising energy demands, it's crucial for utilities to embrace software-driven DLR solutions that can quickly increase transmission efficiency and manage load growth more effectively. (Full article link in the comments).
The story of Grid Enhancing Technologies is not about regulation, it's about utilities making more money. The lack of grid capacity is slowing down load growth: it takes a decade to build a new transmission line, while power plants or data centres can be built in a few years. Grid Enhancing Technologies are available immediately, helping relieve congestion. Power plants and loads can connect faster and utilities can make more money. European grid operators have started to use Dynamic Line Ratings without any regulatory push, because it boosts their profit margin. American utilities will do the same, as soon as they start seeing GETs as an opportunity instead of an obligation. Read more in my POWER magazine op-ed (link in first comment)
