The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (#CLMS) - Pan-European & Local, & the In Situ component, implemented by the #EEA
Om os
Copernicus is the European Union's Earth Observation and Monitoring programme. The European Environment Agency (EEA) has been entrusted with the coordination of Copernicus access to in situ data, and the implementation of the pan European and local components of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS). Using state of the art satellite imagery, CLMS provides information on European land cover, land use, and characterization of biophysical parameters, including crucial input for environmental policies such as the European Green Deal. The Service supports stakeholders—such as policy makers, scientists, and global citizens— working in a variety of domains including nature conservation and restoration, agriculture and food security, and spatial and urban planning. All CLMS data are freely and openly accessible, which enables high-quality decision making and innovation in the fields of land monitoring and environmental change. Copernicus also provides a wide variety of in situ data, collected from ground-based, sea-based, and air-based monitoring systems. This data is used for production and validation of Copernicus products and is essential to deliver reliable and consistent data over time. Do you know the Copernicus Reference Data Access platform, or CORDA for short? As part of the #Copernicus #InSitu component, CORDA serves as the single-entry node to national and regional authoritative geospatial reference data, in particular for the Copernicus mapping services #CLMS #CEMS & the Copernicus Security Service 📡 🛰️ If you want to know more about CORDA, we've got you covered! Check out the recording of last week's dedicated In Situ webinar: https://lnkd.in/euR2PE-y Here’s a quick overview 🔍 of what went through during the event: ➡️ Copernicus In Situ coordinator José Miguel Rubio Iglesias (#EEA) gave an introduction to Copernicus In Situ, CORDA and the importance of geospatial data for production and validation activities of the Copernicus services. ➡️ Iñaki Diaz de Cerio (Bilbomática) & Olga López de Turiso (Geograma) took us on a deep dive into CORDA. ➡️ Angela Baker (EuroGeographics) showcased the work done to enable greater access to EuroGeographics members authoritative data for the Copernicus Services and end users, including the removal of legal and technical barriers. And stay tuned, as more In Situ webinars are on the way!
