Sometimes, they come together for a "what's hot in data" session to exchange insights on the latest trends. Other times, they step out of the office for a full day to go deep into challenges that cut across teams, squads, and domains. Recently, they hosted a hackathon, where three cross-functional teams worked together in a sandbox environment to solve a data mesh challenge. The result? Beyond having a blast (according to office rumors), they came back with plug-and-play breakthroughs, real learnings, and an even stronger professional bond. Here at InCommodities, we've always been about challenging the status quo – rethinking energy trading by leveraging technology. From day one, we knew algorithmic trading would be central to our approach. Both as a tool for efficiency, but also as a means to navigate the complexity of energy markets, forecast more accurately, and trade more timely in increasingly volatile markets driven by the growing share of weather-dependent energy sources. Earlier this week, the Financial Times featured InCommodities, describing us as part of a new breed of traders using algorithms to navigate the volatile and rapidly growing market. As Daniel Borup Andersen, CEO of InCommodities Europe, shared in the article: “Algorithms are a way to navigate all that data, extract the relevant information, and understand how it’s going to impact prices.” As algorithmic trading scales, so does the need for clear, adaptive regulation. Our Head of Compliance, Iain McGowan, strongly advocates for ensuring that regulatory frameworks and best practices evolve alongside this rapid development.
