Om os

Building Diversity is a non-profit organisation based in Copenhagen working for increased diverse and inclusive architectural fields and built environments. Our community is comprised of future builders. People who are eager to expand the possibilities of collectively ensuring inclusive and diverse futures. It isn’t a quick fix or an easy task to broaden the narrative and invite new narrators. At our table, there’s a seat for anyone who wishes to take part. Expanding and growing: We are Building Diversity.

Read further in the link below. 😊 CC/Magazine: "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸?" BD: Currently, we are working on our second book, ...𝙗𝙪𝙩, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧? to be published with Danish Architectural Press this spring. This new book shifts the focus from the designers of the built environment to its inhabitants, by asking those questions of who we are truly designing for and with – especially addressing the discrimination and power structures embedded in architecture. Stay tuned! One of the other projects we are very proud of, is our ongoing Art Beyond Barriers series. This series focuses on the accessibility of art- and cultural spaces in Denmark. The first event, in collaboration with UKK Art Workers with Disabilities, involved a walk and discussion exploring the challenges artists face in accessing art spaces. The second event launched the project Mapping Disability Access to Danish Art Spaces by UKK Art Workers with Disabilities and was followed up by a panel conservation. These events have created a continuing dialogue between artists, architects, cultural institutions and the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces (Slots- og Kulturstyrelsen) on making cultural and heritage spaces more accessible. #nonprofitorganisation #builtenvironment #architecture hashtag#diversity #inclusion #community #interview https://lnkd.in/dJS8JeQW

  • Join Building Diversity at our upcoming event with Arkitektforeningen as part of our ongoing collaboration with the Inclusivity Platform. Inclusive architecture means designing buildings and spaces where everyone can thrive—regardless of physical or mental abilities. But how do we respond when building codes challenge the diversity we aim to embed in our society? Join us as we explore diversity, inclusivity, and BR18 (Danish Building Regulations). How can we approach accessibility in more nuanced ways and ensure that architecture meets diverse abilities? How can inclusive design become an integral part of the standards and regulations architects work within—and how can architects help shape them? 2 December 2024 15:30-17:30 Åbenrå 34, 1124 Copenhagen, Denmark With perspectives from: Cath Borch Jensen Jesper Holck Mads Stampe Emilie Paulev Ghali Gustav Kallan Lauritsen The event is free, accessible venue, in English and open to everyone. --- What do inclusion and diversity mean for the development of the built environment? Can environmental sustainability exist without social sustainability? And is a city’s quality defined by how well it fosters relationships and connections between people? We’ll explore these questions at the relaunch of the Danish Association of Architects's Inclusivity Platform with Copenhagen’s new city architect, Lars Jensen, Christine Bjerke from Building Diversity, and platform leader Martine Lynge Lyngesen. The event takes place on October 9th at 8:30 AM at the Danish Association of Architects in Copenhagen. Everyone is welcome. Learn more and join the event here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dgskemUX
