Hi.
We currently have a bot which always posts replies to questions tweeted at it. I noticed something that happens intermittently. The bot listens to all @mentions of its username and then uses the text of the tweet to perform a search of our systems and then post a reply, with the @mention of the user who sent the tweet, to the original tweet.
I recently noticed that replies posted by the bot would sometimes not show up in the notifications pane of the user. They just won’t get a notification at all that they have a new mention neither would they be able to view the response to their question. The bot sends a reply (the bot’s responses are logged at our end so we know the bot always post a reply).
But the bot’s twitter account always shows the tweet and its response.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?
It seems these notifications are being filtered by notification filters. Twitter does not show all notifications to users, the ones it thinks are not of much importance. You can try if the notifications shows up when you lift the notification filter for a user. If that’s the case actually there isn’t much you can do, I guess
