Someone can explain me the benefits using Gnip? What is the diference using public api x gnip?

This is quite a broad question, as Gnip offers three categories of APIs (Historical, Realtime, and Insights).

I’ve posted a lot of information about the pros/cons of the public Streaming API vs Gnip PowerTrack in this thread previously.

Essentially:

  • the public Streaming API is a limited 1% sample of the firehose (aka all the Tweets) while Gnip’s Realtime products offer access to the whole stream.
  • the public Search API is limited to 7 days of data while Gnip offers access to the whole archive back to 2006 when Twitter started.
  • the Insights APIs from Gnip (Engagement and Audience) offer data that is not available via any of the public Twitter APIs.

With Gnip you also have a support channel outside of these public “as-is” forums, and there are resiliency, replay and redundancy features on the Realtime products.

I hope that helps!
