So our API was restricted because a user abuse our platform and @ mentioned the same person 50+ times, which is understandable.
We worked with the Twitter team and removed the ability to @ mention users completely, and got our access re-instated which was great however we would like to know if there’s any way to still @ mention users at all?
Companies like Hootsuite and Buffer allow @ mentions on Twitter, so I’m wondering how they get away with it? I know Twitter requires “consent” but I assume Buffer & Hootsuite wouldn’t have a clue if the user has consent or not.
If anyone can help that would be amazing, as we’re already getting our users complaining that they can’t @ mention a friend etc.

Hi.
We have the same issue. The mentions are completely disabled on our application to unsuspend it.
Not clear how to start to use it again. Maybe some whitelist of users who related to Tweet or should we provide some agreement from the mentioned person, or should we implement some API mentions limit restriction, not more than 50 mentions per day, for example.
@juanshishido Could somebody clarify this, please?
Thanks in advance.
