Thank you for joining us at WindEurope 2025! This year’s WindEurope conference in Copenhagen addressed the most urgent issues facing the wind industry. Over three days, wind developers, TSOs, OEMs, government representatives, and other experts came together to discuss the current situation of the industry and the changes needed to maximise value from wind for Europe. Beyond the economic impacts of wind energy, attention must also be paid to its ecological footprint. We’re proud to congratulate our partner, Saitec Offshore Technologies, on their award-winning poster about our successful joint project on bird monitoring in the DemoSATH Lab project, which focuses on bird detection and collision avoidance. And of course, thank you to #TeamRWE for your dedication and hard work. We’re excited to continue advancing wind energy. See you next year in Madrid!

Ever wondered how a wind farm gets its name? For our latest project, Windbostel, we looked to the region’s heritage and held a creative competition to land on a name that embodies both tradition and innovation.   Together with TotalEnergies, who holds a 50% stake in the project, we are developing Windbostel Ost and Windbostel West — two large-scale offshore wind farms off the coast of Borkum, Germany, each with a capacity of 2 GW. With construction starting in 2029 and full commissioning in 2031 and 2032, this 4-GW project will be a key contributor to Germany’s renewable energy future.

After nearly three decades of operation, we’re repowering our Muel wind farm in Spain! 🔄   Three modern turbines will replace 27 older models, increasing the total installed capacity to 19.8 MW. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2025, with GES - Global Energy Services leading the construction work.   Circularity start-up RenerCycle will dismantle the old wind farm and recycle 95% of its components. Many parts will be refurbished and will find a second life within our wind power fleet. The 81 blades will be recycled at a wind blade recycling plant that ACCIONA, ACCIONA Energy and RenerCycle are developing. Advanced recycling technology will enable the reintegration of fibres into new industrial applications.   The Muel repowering project receives funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, established by regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament and Council as part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which is financed by the European Union - #NextGenerationE.   This marks an exciting new chapter for Muel, showcasing sustainable and cost-effective wind energy expansion!

Big steps for renewables in Greece! Together with PPC Renewables - ΔΕΗ Ανανεώσιμες, we are expanding our solar portfolio in the country. ☀️   The Kotyli and Neo Syrakio solar farms, located in the Prefecture of Central Macedonia in Northern Greece, will have a combined capacity of 567 MWp (518 MWac). Construction is set to begin this spring, with commissioning expected in 2027. Once operational, they will generate enough clean energy to power the equivalent of more than 140,000 Greek households annually.

Located on a sandbank in the Solway Firth, our Robin Rigg East and Robin Rigg West offshore wind farms, known collectively as Robin Rigg, were the first commercial wind farms to be built in Scottish waters! 🌊   Together, they have been generating clean energy for the past 15 years, providing enough electricity to power the equivalent of 137,000 Scottish homes annually, reducing carbon emissions in the process, by offsetting approximately 230,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.   In collaboration with Dumfries & Galloway and Cumbria, we launched a £1 million Community Benefit Fund in 2009, which has supported a number of local projects over the years.

Building on the Breeze: Rampion 2 Extends the Legacy! 🌬️ A huge milestone in the development of the Rampion 2 offshore wind project. We've been awarded a Development Consent Order for Rampion 2 offshore wind farm project. The project is planned to include up to 90 wind turbines and foundations off the Sussex coast and would be capable of powering the equivalent of over one million homes. We are leading the development, on behalf of Joint Venture partners, a Macquarie-led consortium and a subsidiary of Enbridge Inc.

Many people keep our offshore wind farms running smoothly, but what if an emergency happens? 🛟   This week, we tested our offshore rescue concept at Nordsee Ost near Heligoland, Germany. In collaboration with the Gesellschaft für maritimes Notfallmanagement (Society for Maritime Emergency Management), various emergency scenarios were simulated, including the deployment of rescue helicopters, paramedics, and rope rescuers.   These exercises are necessary to ensure that all procedures run smoothly in real emergencies, reinforcing our commitment to the highest safety standards in offshore operations.
