What makes a building truly timeless? On Charles Hill, an alpine cabin shows how modern craftsmanship and traditional wisdom can coexist beautifully. Built where a historic structure once stood, the new hut honors the past by respecting its footprint and natural surroundings. Its materiality is key: RHEINZINK-prePATINA graphite-grey, applied with the double standing seam technique, ensures both longevity and aesthetic consistency. The rear façade tucks into the slope, a stone base anchors it to the landscape, and a meadow-covered roof blurs the boundary between building and terrain. Reference project of the month – SANRAL REGIONAL OFFICE, Port Elizabeth, South Africa Sustainable architecture is shaping the future and the SANRAL Regional Office in Port Elizabeth stands as a prime example. As the first 5-star Green Star-certified office building in the Eastern Cape, it sets new standards for efficiency, sustainability and modern design. Promoting Sustainable Mobility: RHEINZINK Participates in the ways2work Initiative in Datteln As a company committed to sustainable development, we are pleased to contribute to ways2work Datteln – a municipal initiative aimed at advancing sustainable mobility in the workplace. Marketing team goes craftsmanship! A part of our marketing team in Germany was able to learn a lot about the processing of RHEINZINK over the last 2 days. Thanks to our great training manager André, we are now the proud owners of a wall covering, a soldered seam, a crab and an eaves end. What became clear to everyone once again: tinsmith work is varied, demanding and requires a lot of hand and arm muscles.

Private Residence Northcliff, Johannesburg, South Africa A Pavilion Concept in Johannesburg - At first glance, this residence looks like a small urban ensemble rather than a traditional home. The design takes a bold approach to the steep terrain by dividing the structure into multiple pavilions around a central lawn. This layout creates clear functional areas for family life, work and relaxation. At the same time, it ensures a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The choice of materials plays a key role in bringing the design together. The architect used 347 m² of RHEINZINK-prePATINA blue grey with double standing seams on the roof and angled standing seams on the facade. Titanium zinc was selected for both its aesthetics and durability. Over time, the self-healing patina protects against corrosion and enhances the facade’s natural character. This project shows how smart architecture can adapt to difficult landscapes while maintaining a strong design identity. By using durable and sustainable materials, it sets new standards for modern residential buildings.
