Last year, I had the privilege of testing the OroraTech WFS satellite-based wildfire detection system. It truly felt like a glimpse into the future of advanced detection technology — a future that has already taken significant steps forward, now enhanced by a new generation of satellites. Yesterday, at ICZR Sežana (Slovenia) in organization with OroraTech and New Age Solutions, I had the opportunity to share my hands-on experience with the Orora Tech WFS system, using real-world wildfire interventions as case studies. I hope I managed to convey how powerful and important it is for the future of timely detection, analysis, and integration with other critical emergency management systems. I had the pleasure of attending the event alongside Toni Sabalić and Mariana Stang, whose expertise and insights added great value to the discussion. Most systems can really only give you partial information about a wildfire emergency - Wildfire Solution delivers the whole picture. Next to Martin Langer, I had the chance to provide a few statements for a nice piece on the growing community of satellite missions dedicated to fast wildfire response in the famous German magazine DER SPIEGEL. It is our office’s favorite day of the year - OT Girl’s Day! ! Championing diversity and equality is at the heart of what we do — and that includes empowering young women to explore and thrive in STEM fields. At this year’s NVIDIA GTC Conference, we had the chance to share how we're using edge AI in space to enable near-real-time wildfire detection through our satellite network. By integrating NVIDIA GPUs directly into our satellites, we’ve built onboard processing capabilities that detect wildfires before the data even reaches the ground. The result? Fire detection and image analysis in under 60 seconds. A couple weeks ago, our Data Scientist Anastasia Sarelli and Business Developer Georgios Fotopoulos from our Athens office attended the RSCy 2025 in Cyprus! This annual conference is a place for sharing remote sensing and geoinformation data with the wider community, including workshops with European Space Agency - ESA, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and more. We gave presentations on how we generate our Sea Surface Data layer from our network of infrared satellites, as well as our work on Near-Real Time Active Fire Detection.  This was a great opportunity to also meet with others about our capabilities and improvements, discussing the needs of citizens and companies located in the Mediterranean region and beyond.
