𝗔 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 NeXtWind! 🌱💨 Yesterday, we took a big step forward in clean energy with the official acceptance of our very first new wind turbine from ENERCON – the E-160 EP5 – in Salingen! To put it simply: this massive turbine, with blades as long as a soccer field and a tower reaching 120 meters high, will generate enough green electricity to power around 4,000 homes every year. ⚡🏡 On-site for this special moment were our colleague Benedikt Wolff, Ms. Lengeling from ENERCON, and our team member Martin Krallmann, who had the honor of performing the final acceptance of the turbine. This marks an exciting step forward for NeXtWind as we continue our mission to accelerate the energy transition. 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽 Wind energy is not just about expansion—it’s also about responsible repowering and recycling. But what exactly happens when an old turbine is taken down to make room for quieter and more efficient models? ✅ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 When a wind turbine reaches the end of its operational life, it is systematically dismantled. Components like the tower, nacelle, and rotor blades are removed step by step and dismantled into smaller parts. ♻️ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 Around 80-90% of a wind turbine can be recycled: Steel, copper, and aluminum are repurposed for new constructions. Concrete is broken down for road construction. Rotor blades, made from composite materials, are now part of innovative recycling projects. 🌍 𝗔 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 Older but still functional turbines often find new homes: Many are sold and reinstalled elsewhere - including developing countries. 𝗟ü𝘁𝗮𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽! 🙌🌱 Last week, we had the pleasure of joining a local info event on the wind park -invited by the mayor, welcomed by the community. Around 150–200 people came to hear what’s happening, ask questions, and share their thoughts. We talked about timelines, expansion plans, and yes – even battery storage 🔋 Some of the questions that stuck with us: ➡️ “𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧?” ➡️ “𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚?” These are exactly the conversations that drive us – curious, forward-thinking, and rooted in the community. With perfect weather and great company, we kicked off from Friedrichstraße and enjoyed a stunning sightseeing route past Berlin’s most iconic landmarks – Gendarmenmarkt, Staatsoper, Museumsinsel, Berliner Dom, Reichstag, Unter den Linden, Brandenburg Gate, and along the beautiful Spree. 🏛️🌊 A big shoutout to our fantastic team: Julia, Markus, Omar, Dana, Elias, Maja, Simon, Aleksandr, and Lara – who traded their desks for the streets of Berlin and quite literally went the extra mile!
