Big topics, expert audience, exciting dialogues: At this year's mobility move fair in Berlin, we presented the MAN Lion's City 12 E with numerous new features. In addition to the all-electric city bus, the new MAN BatteryPack was also on show. Series production of the system, which will be installed in all eBuses in the future, will start in a few weeks at the MAN battery plant in Nuremberg. The highlights of the MAN Lion's City 12 E on display include the completely redesigned digital cockpit and numerous new assistance systems. MAN thus fitted perfectly into the range of topics at the trade fair for public transport on the road, as there was a focus on autonomous driving, digitalisation, eMobility and charging solutions and infrastructure. A special honor for MAN Truck & Bus: Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the new EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, visited our headquarters in Munich - his first visit to Germany in this role. He discussed key topics regarding the future of the transport sector with MAN CEO Alexander Vlaskamp and Chief Technology Officer Frederik Zohm. The focus was on electrification, automation, and digitalization, as well as the EU action plan aimed at keeping European vehicle manufacturers competitive. Alexander Vlaskamp described the plan as a "step in the right direction" but called for a faster expansion of the charging infrastructure across Europe and a rethinking of CO2 regulations. "It sets extremely ambitious targets and threatens vehicle manufacturers with disproportionate penalties if they fail to meet them – penalties that are 25 times higher than in the passenger car sector," said MAN CEO Vlaskamp. "These penalties would jeopardize the competitiveness of our industry, prevent urgently needed investments in innovation, and ultimately cost many jobs in Europe." Legislators must recognize that it is no longer in the hands of manufacturers whether climate targets are met or not. "We have done our homework, but we may still be penalized." eMobility keeps on rolling. More than 100 MAN eTrucks have already completed 500,000 kilometres so far in 2025. With a daily range of up to 800 kilometres (including a one time intermediate charging) and an average consumption of 106 kWh per 100 kilometres driving in winter temperatures, our eTrucks saved a lot of CO2 - approximately 400 tonnes if 100 percent ecologically produced electricity had been used. All vehicles are in real logistics deployment for customers like DB Schenker, Duvenbeck and many more.
