Transforming Asia Restoration Education together with Students! The Asian Restoration Education Curriculum Design Workshop by CIFOR-ICRAF has just concluded, and what a journey it has been! As a representative of the International Forestry Students' Association (IFSA), I’m truly grateful to witness and take part in a curriculum development process that genuinely involves students. It’s not often we see education being shaped with students voices, not just for them. Together with amazing team I have in IFSA, Alfarizi Ramadhan Blancan, Ferizta Hardika Putri, John Miguel Cortes, and fellow IFSA Officials, we had the honor of presenting the Asian Student Capacity Needs Assessment, a reflection of what students want and need. Our voices were heard, acknowledged, and taken into account. Thank you to all the fellow students who contributed to this assessment, your voices made it possible. Stay tuned as we continue this journey with upcoming assessments in each region! This workshop has been a new and transformative experience for me in the education sector. We started with defining "Landscape Restoration" and ended with a roadmap for a future steps. We engage with various stakeholders, we learn, we discuss, we debate, but we’re always certain of one thing: our shared goal is a transformative Asian restoration education for the future. If there’s one thing I take from this, it’s the belief that engaging students in curriculum design is already part of building transformative education. When we are empowered to contribute, the outcomes become more relevant, equitable, and impactful. Huge thanks to CIFOR-ICRAF Team especially Bu Cora van Oosten for the incredible support and space for students, and to IFSA for the opportunity to represent and co-create. The journey doesn’t stop here #RestorationEducation is only beginning to bloom! #ThinkLandscape #GenerationRestoration #IFSA #CIFORICRAF
