🔌 Milestone for Climate-Friendly Port Logistics - and Cleaner Air for Hamburg! 🌱 At our HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder in Hamburg, a major step toward sustainable shipping and urban sustainability has just been taken: For the first time, the MSC Athens was successfully supplied with shore-side electricity during its laytime. Together with Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company and technology partners Powercon and Igus, we completed the first successful test using renewable energy - a key milestone on the path to decarbonising port operations. With around 40 MSC vessels already equipped for shore power, this test sets the course for regular operations - and more tests are already planned. Once complete, all of our three HHLA container terminals in Hamburg will be equipped to deliver low-emission energy to ships at berth, ensuring that mega-ships can plug in instead of powering up their engines. And the benefits go beyond port logistics: By reducing emissions from ships at berth, shore-side power directly contributes to improving air quality in Hamburg. That’s real added value for the people who live and work in our port city. 🌱 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks

Drones are unlocking incredible possibilities for streamlining industrial processes and enhancing security, especially when integrated into a highly effective automation and control system. 🚀 With the cutting-edge Integrated Control Centre (ICC) developed by our subsidiary HHLA Sky GmbH, we’re taking drone operations to unprecedented heights. The sophisticated system enables the seamless, remote management of multiple drones flying simultaneously, allowing industries to not only optimise processes but also ensure the protection of critical infrastructure. In environments like major ports, where waterways, roads, power grids, communication networks, and logistics are vital, quick and coordinated responses are essential. By utilising the ICC, multiple agencies can deploy drones simultaneously around the clock to safeguard infrastructure and maintain business continuity. Key benefits include: ⏩ Real-time monitoring of high-risk zones ⏩ Immediate detection and assessment of potential threats ⏩ Providing real-time data for quicker, more informed decision-making ⏩ Supporting ground officers during active response operations ⏩ Capturing essential evidence for post-incident analysis Coordinated through one unified system, these operations enhance situational awareness, reduce response times, and ensure that critical infrastructure remains secure, even in the face of evolving threats. 💪🏼 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #innovation #security

Join us today at our rail terminal in Dunajská Streda. Its location in southwest Slovakia makes it an important logistical crosspoint between Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. The terminal operated by our subsidiary METRANS Group extends over 326.000 m2 and can store 25.000 TEU of full containers and an additional 15.000 TEU of empty ones. It operates 24/7 on 365 days a week and can handle nine trains at the same time. Established in 2007, today the terminal features four portal cranes, seven heavy reachstakers with a 45-tonne lifting capacity, eight 12-tonne reachstakers, three 8-tonne reachstakers and three forklifts. They are operating on nine rail tracks, as well as on a 296.000 m2 stacking area. In the on-site workshop 23 colleagues, working in two shifts, repair, clean and paint damaged containers. The hub offers connections to Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Koper, Ceska Trebova, Kosice, Zilina, Budapest, Krems and Halkali. #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #METRANS #rail

Strengthening Connections 💪🏻 HHLA PLT Italy, our key logistics hub in the Adriatic, continues to play a vital role in Maersk’s E17 shuttle service, linking Port Said – Trieste – Venice. This regular and efficient connection strengthens our role in the Mediterranean logistics network, ensuring: ✅ Faster transit times for cargo ✅ Seamless connectivity between key markets ✅ Reliable and resilient supply chains But that’s not all. Reefer cargo is a growing focus area at HHLA PLT Italy. As the first port after Egypt, Trieste offers a highly competitive transit point for temperature-sensitive shipments, particularly for fruit and vegetables destined for Central and Eastern Europe. With Egypt being a key exporter in this sector, this connection unlocks new opportunities for cold chain logistics. Additionally, our terminal operates its own dedicated Border Inspection Point, streamlining all sanitary and veterinary inspections for import cargo, exclusively serving our clients. At HHLA, we believe in #ThePowerOfNetworks, and this partnership is another step toward creating a more connected and efficient logistics ecosystem. #HHLA #logistics

💧 Fueling the Future: Since 2022, we’ve been collaborating with over 40 global partners to develop hydrogen-powered vehicles and equipment. Here are some key milestones and behind-the-scenes moments from our journey 📷: 🔧 Technical Approval of the Terminal Tractor: The terminal tractor has received official technical approval from our internal teams, confirming its functionality, safety, and compliance with all necessary standards. 👩🏫 Training for Safe Operations: Our drivers and workshop team are now well-versed in the vehicle’s technical specifics, the new refueling system, and recovery procedures, guaranteeing smooth and effective workflows on-site. ⛽ Access System for Local Truck Refueling: Together with our subsidiary passify we’ve developed an innovative refueling access system for trucks. 🚗 Initial Test Drives & Insights: We began the first test drives, simulating different driving scenarios to assess the performance of both the refueling station and the terminal tractor. These tests provide valuable insights into the interplay of technology, infrastructure, and human behavior within the test field. The journey toward cleaner, more sustainable logistics is just beginning, and we’re excited to share more insights along the way! 🌍💡 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #hydrogen #milestones #BehindTheScenes

Round of applause! 👏 The "Pin-Handling-mR" project, a collaboration between HHLA and the Fraunhofer Centre for Maritime Logistics and Services (CML), has been successfully completed! 🎉 But what was it all about? 🤔 Locking pins on container wagons need to be opened or closed depending on container size - a task that is currently done manually. The goal of the project was to develop an autonomous mobile robotic system to take over this process. Over the course of the project, a prototype was developed and successfully tested under real-world conditions at our Container Terminal Tollerort in Hamburg. Yesterday, we presented the project results at the final event at CTT together with Fraunhofer CML. Pablo Rossio, HHLA project manager, sums it up: "This research project has proven that automating pin handling in rail operations is technically feasible." While the system isn’t production-ready just yet, it lays the foundation for further development. The project was funded by the Department for Digital and Transport (BMDV) as part of the Innovative Port Technologies (IHATEC) programme. It aims to drive innovation in port technologies, particularly in autonomous systems and automation solutions. Exciting times in the world of rail automation! 🚆 #HHLA #ThePowerofNetworks #Automation
