Did you know Hapag-Lloyd's Dangerous Goods Department is one of the oldest in the liner shipping industry? 🚢 For over 50 years, we have been setting the benchmark for safety! There are strict international regulations that govern how Dangerous Goods can be stored on board. At Hapag-Lloyd, we take it a step further to ensure the safest possible transport. For example, Dangerous Goods are never stowed on the vessel’s sides or near crew accommodation. We spoke with two of our employees, DENIZ KANKALE, Director Dangerous Goods, and Anne Timm, Dangerous Goods Manager, who shared insights on what it takes to ensure safety is always a top priority! Last year, we transported nearly 500,000 TEUs of Dangerous Goods - check the link in the comments to find out how we do it! #hapaglloyd #dangerousgoods #lookout

400 meters of steel, thousands of tons of cargo — all held steady by a few lines. Mooring is how massive container ships stay firmly in place, secured with heavy-duty lines or advanced systems — even in rough conditions. It might look simple, but behind every secure vessel is a precise choreography of crew, cables, and often several hours of coordination. One fact that might surprise you: 🔸 It can take up to 4 hours to properly moor a mega-vessel, depending on the port layout, vessel size, and weather conditions. That’s a whole operation just to get into the right place. So next time you see one of our vessels docked neatly at port, just know: getting it there was anything but easy. Have you seen a mooring operation in action — or even been part of one? Share your story below! 👇 #HapagLloyd #Shipping #Mooring #PortOperations #LifeAtSea #MaritimeFacts
