The Falling Walls Foundation connects science, business and society to shape the future through impactful ideas. Inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989, the Foundation promotes breakthrough thinking and builds a global network of leaders in academia, business and the public sector. Taking place on 22 April (Earth Day), this event will spotlight approaches to ocean health innovation, climate resilience, and marine restoration — exploring how science engagement can play a transformative role in tackling biodiversity loss. Why is this important? Because restoring our oceans is not just an environmental issue — it’s essential to global stability, sustainable development, and the future of life on Earth. The round was backed by Maersk Growth, Planet A Ventures, and the former CEO of Linde.     What if climate data could be something you could taste – and feel? That’s the idea behind DataWagashi, a multisensory project by designer and creative technologist Tiange Wang, named the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2024 in Art & Science. Together with I-Yang Huang, she transforms complex climate data into edible, tangible experiences, using traditional Japanese confectionery (wagashi) to make climate science emotionally engaging and culturally inclusive. “My research turns complex climate data into edible and tangible experiences that engage people emotionally.” – Tiange Wang 🎉 In 2024, she pitched her work on the global stage in Berlin. 👩⚖️ In 2025, she returns as a jury member for the Art & Science category. “Participating in the Global Call amplified our work globally, connected us with diverse changemakers, and opened doors to new collaborations and audiences.” 🎯 Are you using art and creativity to make science more accessible and impactful?
