From cutting-edge diagnostics to green chemistry and sustainable proteins, past Falling Walls Venture winners are scaling up and shaping the future across sectors. 🧪 C1 Green Chemicals AG (Finalist 2022) has secured €20 million to bring its green methanol catalysis technology to market and help defossilise the carbon-based chemical industry. The round was backed by Maersk Growth, Planet A Ventures, and the former CEO of Linde. Taking place on 22 April (Earth Day), this event will spotlight approaches to ocean health innovation, climate resilience, and marine restoration — exploring how science engagement can play a transformative role in tackling biodiversity loss. Why is this important? Because restoring our oceans is not just an environmental issue — it’s essential to global stability, sustainable development, and the future of life on Earth. Through science engagement, we can bridge knowledge and action, connect policy and practice, and inspire meaningful change. 🔬What if we could train the immune system to cure brain cancer? That’s exactly what Michael Platten, Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2024 in Life Sciences, is pioneering. What if climate data could be something you could taste – and feel? That’s the idea behind DataWagashi, a multisensory project by designer and creative technologist Tiange Wang, named the Falling Walls Science Breakthrough of the Year 2024 in Art & Science.
