Eine der Besonderheiten am Flughafen ist die Werft und Ausbildungsstätte der DRF Luftrettung. Somit gibt es hier, neben dem normalen Verkehr, auch viele Hubschrauberflüge. Paving the Way for eVTOL Integration in Airspace Management As the excitement around eVTOLs (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft) evolves into a more structured industry outlook, one key challenge remains: the safe and efficient integration of eVTOL operations into existing airspace systems. DAS in collaboration with Munich Airport International ,Flughafen München , DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH and Airbus Helicopters is proud to be part of an innovative research initiative that’s taking on this critical task. Funded by the Free State of Bavaria, this project is making strides in integrating eVTOL operations at a major international airport—marking the first time that such procedures are being created at an airport with parallel runway operations. Shaping the Future of Air Mobility This ambitious project sets high standards: ✅ Safety remains our top priority, with strict adherence to international aviation standards ✅ Minimal disruption to airport capacity is essential ✅ Maximizing eVTOL system throughput for future scalability Our team has focused on developing Visual Flight Rules (VFR) procedures for initial operations, while also laying the foundation for Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) procedures, ensuring long-term scalability as regulations evolve. DFS experts have led safety assessments to enable safe and seamless transitions into operation. Real-Time Simulations: Enhancing Operational Safety One of the most groundbreaking aspects of this project is our realistic ATC tower simulation, which incorporates both conventional aircraft and eVTOL traffic. By simulating real-world conditions, including weather changes, traffic fluctuations, and complex airport operations, we are validating operational procedures and identifying potential impacts well before the first eVTOLs take flight. At DAS, we are committed to ensuring that Munich Airport - and other airports worldwide - are ready for the future of eVTOLs. Say hi 👋 to Kevin, one of our apron operators at Lima airport who spoke the first radio messages from the digital apron management center! Kevin is operational referent at DAS Peru. Having provided out-of-the-window apron management at Lima Airport for two years, we are now introducing digital apron management LIMA AIRPORT together with Saab, Inc.. During our first trials in December, Kevin was on frequency with the pilots from the digital center, after training with the new systems for almost 5 months. 📢 “Speaking the first radio was really a milestone moment and very exciting. After nearly five months of training on the new system, it felt natural to guide pilots from this state-of-the-art facility. Transitioning to this new environment felt like a big step forward, and from the very first transmissions, we could see the benefits of the system in action. The clarity of information, improved situational awareness, and enhanced coordination with pilots made a real difference. This is a game-changer for apron management at Lima Airport." DAS Peru is now getting ready for the opening of the new Terminal T2 at Lima Airport, where currently the last trials are happening. With the opening, DAS will assume the responsibility for an even larger apron area.
