📍 Berlin, we’re back! This week, AENU is hosting our annual Summit in Germany’s capital – and what better moment to publish our Berlin Climate Tech Market Map? Here’s what we found: 🌱 A vibrant hub for emerging climate tech startups: Most of Berlin’s climate tech startups are in the seed stage, but an impressive number have already scaled to Series A and beyond – especially in energy, built environment, and climate management. ⚡ Energy leads in numbers: It’s the most active vertical, with strong representation across all funding stages. From seed-stage players like trawa to scale-ups like Enpal, Berlin is a powerhouse for energy innovation. 📊 Climate Management is close behind: This rapidly growing sector spans emissions monitoring, carbon accounting, and offsetting – with startups across all stages, reflecting growing corporate and regulatory demand. 🏗️ Built World is gaining serious momentum: A newer but fast-growing trend, Berlin is home to a number of startups tackling construction emissions and building efficiency. We’re proud to back companies like alcemy (Series A) who are leading in this space. 🧪 An unexpected standout: New Materials & Chemistry: Berlin is emerging as a hub for startups developing novel materials and industrial decarbonization solutions – a sign of the city’s growing strength in deeptech climate ventures. 🤝 A strong ecosystem to support it all: With institutions like SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen, top universities, and an increasing number of impact-focused VCs, Berlin offers a fertile environment for founders building breakthrough climate solutions. 📥 You can download the full Berlin Market Map here: https://lnkd.in/dauXcYEZ If you’re building in Berlin or want to connect during the AENU Summit, feel free to reach out! #Berlin #ClimateTech #VentureCapital #EnergyTransition #Decarbonization #ImpactInvesting #ClimateInnovation #AENU #AENUSummit Thanks Melusine Bliesener, Moritz William Heck and Katharina Beitz for your support in creating the market map. cc Dr. Fabian Heilemann, Ferry Heilemann, Siobhan Brewster, Robert Stoecker, Melina Sánchez Montañés

💚 Think Negative! 💚 🇩🇪 Germany is about to approve €100,000,000,000 (yes, you counted those zeros right) to be spent on climate and energy over 12 years. And it’s planning to codify its 2045 net-zero target once and for all. 💯 That is all incredible news! Now it is time to make sure that carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) receives the share of this funding it deserves given its central role in Germany hitting net-zero! 😍 To achieve just that, the Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) has just launched the #thinknegative campaign: negative emissions for a positive future - https://lnkd.in/d6E5rPCX 🫵 Join the campaign, like/comment/share this post, and let’s make sure the message is heard far and wide as negotiations for the €100b pot are ramping up. 🌟 For those who need a reminder: Germany is already home to the most vibrant CDR ecosystem in Europe and it is estimated that a thriving CDR industry could generate as much as €70b/year for the German economy as well as produce 190,000 high-quality jobs. ✅ This is a once in a generation opportunity - let’s use it! 💪 Auf geht’s Deutschland! 💡 Want to stay informed with all the important CDR developments in Germany and beyond? We want to do more than just providing a job. You can get that anywhere. We want to work with purpose. We want people to grow and reach out for their best. We want to work well, celebrate our successes and produce something beautiful, like a livable planet. Just ask our interns, who recently graduated through the Tech Talent program at MotionLab.Berlin. They'll tell you: it was all of the above!

⭐️With around 250k university students, it's no wonder that Berlin has been named The City of Talents.⭐️ But how can we empower these talents to create startups and tech companies? By providing opportunities like the Tech Talent Program, we aim to help talents bring their ideas to life through real-world experience. Last night we closed batch 7 of this program with a celebratory Graduation Day. Thank you to everyone who joined us. ❤️ To the students from Batch 7: We wish you all the best on your journey ahead and we are glad to see many of you have already found industry and research partners for your master thesis and received job offers! While this may be goodbye for now, we hope to see you around the hub, at events, and staying connected through the MotionLab.Berlin ecosystem. 🙏 We would also like to say a special thank you to our keynote speakers: 🎤 Florian Tiller (Co-Founder & CEO, Ucaneo) – who spoke of his experience and journey founding Ucaneo. He touched on the importance of working within your passion and how starting fun traditions within your startup can bring your team closer together. 🎤 Lori Baldwin (Co-Founder of Atmosphere Creative Agency) – who explored the positive impact of aesthetic, live, tactile experiences on innovation and creativity. She emphasized the importance of preserving human connection away from a screen and says, "The act of innovation requires you to think outside the box. It needs makerspaces like this, full of people who accept the challenge of forging your own path." 💡Why do we run the Tech Talent Program? Businesses face real challenges—innovation pressure, skill gaps, and talent shortages—while top STEM students are eager for hands-on experience. Our Tech Talent Program bridges this gap, connecting brilliant young minds with startups and industry leaders. 🔹How does it work? 1️⃣ We co-design an innovation challenge with startups and corporates, based on real-world tech problems. 2️⃣ We source top students from 20+ leading universities to tackle it. 3️⃣ Companies gain fresh perspectives, cost-effective solutions, and a direct pipeline to future hires. 🔹The result? A win-win for both students and businesses, fuelling innovation, accelerating hiring, and strengthening Berlin’s deep tech ecosystem. We are so grateful to be in a position to connect startups, corporates, and young talent to shape the future of technology together. A huge congratulations to all the students—your hard work and creativity blew us away! Thank you to Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Digital Hub Initiative, and RCKT - A Dentsu Creative Company for making this program possible. #MotionLabBerlin #TechTalentProgram #DeepTech #Innovation #FutureofTech #DeepTech #Hardtech #Climatetech #Berlin #EventBerlin #Student Photography copyright Janosch Weiss

📸 Butzmann/BMWK
