🌍 Imaginer la #VilleAfricaine de demain, ensemble : Retour sur les #ConsultationsPubliques pour les Plans d’Urbanisme de Détails du #GrandAbidjan J’ai eu le plaisir de co-animer avec Jaurès DJAMADJIBAYE et Prince Elvis des #ConsultationsPubliques dans 05 communes du Grand Abidjan. Cette activité s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un projet stratégique piloté par The World Bank à travers le Programme d’Amélioration de la Résilience Urbaine (#PARU), qui a mandaté le groupement composé de Groupe Huit, Groupe Huit Côte d'Ivoire, @Bureau d’Études et de Planification Urbaine (#BEPU) et TERRABO INGENIEUR CONSEIL pour élaborer les Plans d’Urbanisme de Détails (#PUd) les Commune Plateau d'Abidjan, Adjamé, Attécoubé, Dabou et Jacqueville. J’ai également assisté Jaurès DJAMADJIBAYE à la #Coordination, l’#Organisation, la mobilisation des #PartiesPrenantes. Ce ceci m'a permis de mesurer l’importance de #CoConstruire avec les citoyens pour imaginer des villes qui répondent à leurs besoins et aspirations, tout en favorisant leur épanouissement. 🔎 Qu’est-ce qu’une #ConsultationPublique ? C’est une #DémarcheParticipative et #Inclusive qui place les citoyens au cœur de la #PlanificationUrbaine de leur territoire. Elle garantit que les projets intègrent les attentes locales, renforçant ainsi la transparence, la confiance et l’adhésion des communautés aux décisions futures. Ces consultations ne sont pas de simples exercices techniques. Elles incarnent une philosophie : celle d’un #DéveloppementUrbain durable fondé sur la participation de tous. Son principal objectif était de présenter le scénario de #DéveloppementUrbain et de les confronter aux défis, besoins et aspirations des citoyens. 💡 Pourquoi est-elle essentielle pour un #PUd ? 1️⃣ Impliquer les #CommunautésLocales dans la vision du meilleur futur possible de leur commune. 2️⃣ Adapter le #Scénario de Développement aux réalités, dynamiques spécifiques et potentiels changement du territoire connus par les "sachants du territoire". 3️⃣ Concevoir des #VillesInclusives, #VillesDurables, et des #VillesRésilientes, alignées sur les aspirations citoyennes. 🎯 Objectifs et résultats attendus : Identifier les enjeux spécifiques et projets prioritaires à intégrer dans le scénario de développement. Encourager des #SolutionsUrbaines #Innovantes, #Résilientes et adaptées. Construire une vision commune et réaliste du #DéveloppementLocal. 🌟 Ensemble, nous pouvons imaginer et bâtir des #VillesAfricaines #Modernes, #Résilientes et #Inclusives. 🔊A thrilling update about the #FeasibilityStudy to Prepare the Upgrading Urban #Resilience in Tamale Metropolitan Area, Ghana – the project’s scope has been doubled, now extending to two additional communities of Bilpela and Nalung! This means more benefit for Tamale’s population – and more exciting fieldwork and workshops for Groupe Huit, Keran Afrique de l'Ouest and Bosate's team. 🎯The last week’s participatory activities included the citizen panel members for Bilpela and Nalung. Our team has conducted two workshops, project #identification and #prioritization, as well as multiple site visits and individual interviews with residents. The project identification workshop improved our understanding of the most pressing issues within the communities as well as their spatial distribution. During the second part of the workshop, the community residents proposed a layout of street and drainage network as well as the distribution of public spaces. The project prioritization workshop allowed us to delve deeper into the subject to rank the issues and proposed solutions. 🌾Bilpela community is home to Bilpela dam – a large #retentionpond created by the resident population in the 1970s. Since then, encroachment and natural erosion have led to the deterioration of the dam and frequent flooding of the adjacent communities. Nevertheless, the dam is actively used by the neighboring communities to practice urban farming, source water, and organize a community space. Our project proposes to: 🌱rehabilitate the dam through #renaturation and the use of NBS, and 🎪create a community space with a green promenade around the pond, aiming to preserve the dam’s key role for the community’s #livelihood. 🤩 I’m thrilled to see how the project is taking shape driven by the active participation of the focus communities! 🇬🇭 Groupe Huit (Stephane Milhaud, Anastasia Tikhmyanova) and Keran Afrique de l'Ouest (Jaurès DJAMADJIBAYE) are back in #Ghana to continue working on the #FeasibilityStudy to Prepare the Upgrading Urban Resilience Project in Tamale Metropolitan Area, Ghana supported by the Agence Française de Développement. 👥 This time, we invited the citizen panel from the two project focus areas, Lamakara and Tutingli, to co-construct the projects together with our team. The projects include four main components: Green Corridors (street network), Drainage, Pocket Gardens, and Bilpela Dam. During the two #codesign workshops that took place last week, the citizen panel worked together to decide on the layout for streets and public spaces and propose the equipment for their development. 📌 The discussion about the layout followed the main principles that we have agreed on together: 🏘️ Minimising #resettlement: the layout is adapted to the existing urban fabric to the greatest extent possible. 🚲 #Equitable distribution: proposing a street and public spaces’ network that will benefit all community members. 🏃🏾♂️ Building on existing practices: using the spaces and #mobility axes that are already familiar to and used by the community. ✍️ As a result, the residents proposed several types of roads (two-way, one-way, active mobility, pedestrian) and public spaces (children playground, gathering/resting place, festivity venue, urban agriculture plots). A separate discussion was dedicated to the equipment to install on these places. The residents of Lamakara and Tutingli were highly interested in having ☀️ sun shelters and benches installed all around their communities so that everyone had access to a resting place during hot hours. As for the youth and children, the most requested equipment was a ⚽️ football pitch! ⛹🏾 The co-design will be continued in-depth by the Urban Fabric Initiative (UFI) mission (Naïk Lashermes, Olivier Bedu). The UFI will select one or several identifies spots and propose a temporary project to test the uses and the layout. The UFI project will also ensure the engagement of the residents during the feasibility study and implementation of the initiatives proposed under the current project. 🇬🇭 Groupe Huit is back in #Tamale for the second mission of the Feasibility Study to Prepare the Upgrading Urban Resilience Project in Tamale Metropolitan Area, Ghana supported by Agence Française de Développement. 🎯 The main objective of this mission was to develop project proposals and prioritize interventions in two focus communities of the project, Lamakara and Tutingli. The project has a strong focus on encouraging active #participation of the project beneficiaries at all project stages. To achieve that, we organized #participatoryactivities using various formats: #focusgroups, world café, and public meetings. The activities involved the citizen panel - a body composed of the residents of the two focus communities to be involved in project proposals, prioritization, and design. 👉As a result of the three #workshops, we could identify the needs of different population groups in infrastructure and facilities and understand how different people use these facilities. Together with the residents, we strived to put forward integrated projects that could bring multiple benefits to the community and foster #inclusiveness and #climateresilience. The participants have prioritized the following projects for their communities: 🔹Drainage network improvements. Stormwater #drainage has been identified as the main priority by the majority of residents given the severity of flooding in both Lamakara and Tutingli, which is caused by disproportionate drainage in these communities. 🔹Road paving and #mobility improvements. Improving road access to the communities will foster mobility for the community residents and facilitate waste collection. Mobility improvements will also include street lighting and greening to create a safe and pedestrian-friendly environment.  🔹Waste collection points. Indiscriminate #wastedumping is one of the factors exacerbating flooding and posing sanitary concerns. The residents proposed deploying waste containers with a cover to prevent spilling and improving the waste collection process through deploying tricycles. 🔹Urban greening and creating urban parks. One of the proposed projects is draining the Bilpela dam site. Initially a man-made retention pond, it has lost its absorption capacity due to pollution and regularly floods the adjacent communities. The team will be looking at draining the dam and #landscaping the area. 🌿The project proposals will integrate #naturebasedsolutions that target multiple areas: increasing water absorption capacities, #erosion prevention, shading, and dust and #waterfiltering.
